Thank you! To follow up: Are the living arrangements of the student irrelevant as long as the IRA withdrawal amount (which would be allocated toward room and board) does not exceed what the university lists as room and board in their cost of attendance? Her university does not offer on-campus housing, but even if they did, and she chose to live off-campus, would it matter?

@kimmiecon wrote: where do I put the information regarding qualified overtime compensation amount on the 1040 form? @kimmiecon  Qualified overtime does not go on Form 1040. It goes on Schedule 1-A. To enter the qualified overtime amount in TurboTax, after you enter your W-2 you will come to a screen that says "Let's check for uncommon situations." On that screen, check the box for Overtime. TurboTax will then prompt you to enter the information needed to claim the deduction for overtime. The deduction will be calculated in Part III of Schedule 1-A. There are 3 other deductions that might also be on Schedule 1-A besides the deduction for overtime. The total of all the deductions on Schedule 1-A will be on Form 1040 line 13b.
Customer service told me to buy the desktop version. I shelled out for the desktop version and had the same issue. I am livid.
Also experiencing this weird error for carry forward item depreciation from 2024. Is there any fix for it?

Same issue with TT 2025 Business for me too. Trust filing worked last year no problem but this year no such luck.   Was on the phone with TurboTax for 4 hours yesterday (Jan 30) and no luck. Tried different computers, reinstalling, running super updaters, disabling antivirus, firewalls, running as administrator,  etc.  All no joy. In the end, it was suggested there are forms that still need updating, although program does not indicate that.   I'll wait till February 6 update to see if that fixes things. If not, snail mail will have to do.

The only way to file it now is by mail.   Print it, sign and date it in ink, and mail it in.   When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.   Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.

You can review your 1099-Q information by going to the search (magnifying glass at top right) and typing 1099-Q.   From there, select Jump to and the system will take you back to your 1099-Q.   You can also go to Deductions & Credits and scroll down to Education.   Common reasons why a 1099-Q will increase your taxes are:   Failure to Properly Designate "Rollover" in Software (which does not sound like the case with you) 1099-Q vs. 1098-T Discrepancy - Have you entered your 1098-T information? Double-Dipping (Tax Credits vs. 529) - You use the same education expenses to claim an education tax credit Review the following:   Check your tax return entry to ensure the 1099-Q is marked as a rollover/reinvestment Verify that the 1098-T expenses are accurately reported Ensure you are not using the same expense for both a tax credit and a 529 tax-free withdrawal

OK so I filed my taxes with turbo tax, applied for refund advance, was approved for $1500, chose that as an option at checkout. Filed 1/26, confirmed it was accepted. It is 1/31 and no refund advance has been posted to my account. I called Turbo Tax Customer Service they said wait, 24hrs, then called again wait 48 hours, then called again and they confirmed I checked out with that option and stated they don't know why it hasn't posted because its showing on their end it had been initiated but was pending and to called Credit Karma. Ok. I called Credit Karma Customer Service and they said they do not know why it hasn't been deposited yet that I needed to contact Turbo Tax because it is on their end. I called Turbo Tax, they said it is not on their end and to call Credit Karma back. I called Credit Karma, asked to speak with a supervisor and her advice was I just needed to wait. I asked wait for what? My return was accepted therefore what am I waiting for it says it will be deposited immediately, but I have already waited 5 days. I am confused. Why are yall even offering this as an option if you are unable to provide the service OR your customer service agents cannot troubleshoot it correctly. I want to know where my advance is. I would not have even filed with Turbo Tax had I known I was not going to get the advance. Now my phone is shut off so I can't even call anyone anymore, my rent is due tomorrow, my insurance lapsed, AND I am a single mother with two small children with barely any groceries.  I am a DoorDash Delivery Driver and with my phone turned off I can't even work!! WHERE IS MY REFUND?? I NEED SOMEONE TO HELP ME!! THIS IS INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATING.

I am well below the threshold but TT keeps adding the form.  I've tried deleting the form but it keeps getting added back.  I've tried clearing my cache.  I've tried all the things in the previous threads, but it keeps happening.  I should not have that form.  How can this be fixed?

You cannot change or add anything on the return that you just e-filed, nor can you stop it.  It is too late, just like when you put an envelope in a US mailbox on the corner.  The IRS does not allow you to take it back.   If you left out a W-2, a 1099G, or a dependent, or a 1099 etc…DO NOT change your return while it is “pending.”  The changes will go nowhere.   Now you have to wait until the IRS either rejects or accepts your return.  If your return is rejected, you will be able to go into your account and make the necessary changes to your tax return and re-submit your return.     If the IRS accepts your return, however, then you have to wait longer until it has been fully processed and you have received your refund.  THEN you can prepare an amended tax return and e-file or mail  it in. You have to be able to work from that return exactly the way it was when it was e-filed originally.  You will need to use a form called a 1040X.     Meanwhile, DO NOT go in and start changing anything on your return in the system, or you will make a mess for yourself.  Sit tight and wait until you see what the IRS does with the return you just e-filed   The Form 1040X you need becomes available in late February,  But wait until your return has been processed.

ThomasM125:   Thank-you for your response.   I was hoping for an answer where our friends at TurboTax provides a interview screen prompting for those values rather than use the generic entry screen.  Especially given that TurboTax Business is supposed to handle "estates" and these 1099's are part of an "estate".   Thanks again.   MTF99
