You don’t need to send him a 1099NEC.   You need to give a 1099NEC (previous a 1099Misc) to anyone you paid $600 or more to for the year. But not to corporations or for merchandise. You enter it under Contract Labor.  If you have the Home & Business version….. Go to Business tab- then Continue Business Income and Expenses - Click the Start or Update button   If you haven't added a business yet you have to go though a lot of screens describing your business.  Or if you already added your business, you should see the Business Summary page that lists your businesses, (right below the list you can Add Another Business)   Then click EDIT by the business name and the next screen should be a list of  topics, Business Profile, Income, Inventory/Cost of Goods Sold, Expenses, Assets, and Final Details last.   Under Business Expenses, Click Start or Update by Other common business expenses Contract Labor is the 5th item in list.

What the heck....January 21st???  Turbo Tax really isn't user friendly.  They should be sending this information out and we shouldn't have to go to the "help" section.
The 1099R is expected to be ready Jan 21.  They are accidentally showing the moving exp for the retirement section.

I have always used the desktop program because I am a CPA and have use it to file taxes for myself and family. I'm being offered by Intuit to switch to the Online platform, which would be great, but I'm wondering if I can still file returns for family using my one account login? Or is it still only one filing (single or married filing jointly) per login?
I am a music teacher & performer. Because many of my expenses overlap, I am filing as one business and require two business codes. Turbotax will only select one code. How do I add a second code?

There could be issues related to the software being adjusted based on the legislation that was passed.  But really do not know for sure.  This sometimes happens either based on the IRS requirements or the legislation requirements.  Have seen this before since using the desktop editions for past 25+ years.  Sometimes this section is completed in December or early January, sometimes a little later.

I have a client who is self-employed as a hair dresser and receives tips.  I would like to record the tips credit for her but under the "Qualified Tips Smart Worksheet for Schedule 1-A, Part II", none of the business information for net profit appears and there are two asterisks next to "All other tips (such as cash) from individuals" that says these tips are not currently eligible but may be in the future.     Does this mean the tips credit doesn't apply to self-employed individuals?  Or do I need to check a box or record something elsewhere within Proseries?   Thank you!
Any idea WHY it's taking so long?
