You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
You should NOT amend your return until it has been fully processed. It is possible that the IRS will catch your mistake and send you a letter of correction letting you know they fixed it and the actual amount you have to pay in. If they don't catch both omissions, then you will file an amended return. The forms are expected to be ready soon.
how will irs know my ss income is
The Social Security Administration (SSA) does send the IRS information, especially if you had tax withheld. Check back once your tax return is processed. If they don't correct it, you can file the amendment.
if the irs changes my 1040 tax form will it automaticly change my state return, or will i have amend that seperately
You will have to amend the state return separately.
Although the states rely on the IRS to supply information, the will not make an adjustment for you.
