amending my taxes

on 2/14/2024 i did my taxes on turbo tax and submitted them accepted and are being processed, after a few hours i reviewed my taxes i noticed i forgot to include my ss income and my federal taxes i paid, when can i amend my taxes, sooner the better, dont want to pay any penalty, only have to include these 2 items, thankyou chucky2

You should NOT amend  your return until it has been fully processed.  It is possible that the IRS will catch your mistake and send you a letter of correction letting you know they fixed it and the actual amount you have to pay in.  If they don't catch both omissions, then you will file an amended return.  The forms are expected to be ready soon

The Social Security Administration (SSA) does send the IRS information, especially if you had tax withheld.   Check back once your tax return is processed.   If they don't correct it, you can file the amendment.

if the irs changes my 1040 tax form will it automaticly change my state return, or will i have amend that seperately

You will have to amend the state return separately.

Although the states rely on the IRS to supply information, the will not make an adjustment for you.
