Dear TurboTax:
I have used you guys for more than 10 years and love your service. However, never before have I experienced such a prolonged wait for my refund: literally 3 months now and counting since my Federal Return was Accepted by the IRS. In March I received a letter from the IRS with a Control Number and Letter Number. I responded with the identiy information they requested and was then congratulated that my identity had indeed been verified. After several more weeks of checking its status to no avail, I contacted your TaxAudit partner and although they were helpful and responsive, the could tell me nothing further. I have never in my adult life experienced this kind of delay in obtaining my refund. And this year I filed in late January! In fact, my California tax return was filed then and I was granted my refund in 6 days.
What in the world is going on and where can I turn to now?
Lance

This year it seems to be a lot more common for refunds to take months instead of days. The people who got the ID verification letter says 9 weeks or more to get your refund. You would need to contact the IRS at 800-829-1040 to find out what is happening with your return.
What if my IRS refund is taking longer than 21 days?
That number is automated a computer how do you speak to a real person about the 60 day delay !!!!
The IRS customer service number for individual taxpayers is 800-829-1040; it may take time and several tries at different times of day to get through.
I'm in the same situation. What is really going on. I verified from march 6th and it's now June 3rd and there is still no refund.

Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.
Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
Then press 3 for all other inquiries
It should then transfer you to an agent.
I tried that number several times this morning and it's computer automated. What else to do?
