My Fed. Refund  is over $2,500 short. TurboTax CRS doesn't what's going on and you can get SBTPG LLC on the phone. I don't have a mix up between State and federal tax refund.  TurboTax need to need to fix the situation ASAP. These corporation are quick to take your money than provide **bleep**ty service and don't  even set a way for you to talk to a live person. TurboTax & SBTPG LLC you all have a lawsuit coming.

SAME. Deposit from "tfp" that is close to $3,000 short on my Federal alone. I've used TurboTax for years, and have always paid fees out of our Federal. I noticed the BS $39 fee they added this year but decided to just pay it. I haven't received a letter from the IRS. I check our return and we entered the correct stimulus and child credit amounts. AND I cannot find our return on the IRS web site and received no notifications from state or federal that our refunds were on the way. Always, even with TurboTax, the refunds were deposited directly from the IRS and state. Totally shady. Can only get bots or bs 'it's the IRS' fault'. Done with Intuit. TurboTax and Mint.

I'm disheartened to read that so many people were duped by TurboTax. They have a script for their call center reps to place the blame on the IRS instead of owning up to their mistake in not informing customers about the cost of having your TurboTax fees paid with your Federal refund via SBTPG. I've also filed an online complaint with the Santa Clara County District Attorney's (DA) Office against TurboTax.  https://countyda.sccgov.org/consumer-protection/consumer-complaint-form

My refund is $110.00 short.  I was not advised by TurboTax some company, other than IRS, would be providing my refund, and for a charge.  I'm not sure I would use TurboTax again.

I'm short $2900 and change... and I didn't get the 3rd stimulus that wouldn't have been close to what's missing... I had to set up a **bleep** go fund me to send my granddaughter to camp and I'm sure I won't meet the goal... this is crazy.. where is our money because the IRS doesn't say I'm short they still show my original payback

What I find ridiculous is that NO ONE has had any answers as to WHY they are shorted their monies?????  Isn't someone responsible for this?????

@rise22 - here is the issue - and explains 'the why'. It's the IRS reducing the refund - not SPTG or TT.

Isn't someone responsible for this? yes - the taxpayer who didn't follow the directions😭

unusual to the 2021 tax year, there are some COVID related benefits that required the taxpayer to enter how much they ALREADY received.

    1) part of the Recovery Rebate module asks how much you ALREADY received for the 3rd Stimulus (received during March - May, 2021).  if you failed to enter the correct amount, the IRS corrected this since they know what they sent you.  Entering the wrong amount (or failing to enter an amount) causes Line 30 on Form 1040 to be inflated and therefore, the refund is inflated.  The IRS corrected that before sending out the refund.

    2) part of the Child tax credit module asks how much you ALREADY received duing July - December, 2021 from the IRS.  If you failed to enter the correct amount, the IRS corrected this since they know what they sent you.  Entering the wrong amount (or failing to enter an amount) causes Line 28 of Form 1040 to be inflated and therefore, the refund is inflated.  The IRS corrected that before sending out the refund.

My refund was also LESS than $2,000!!! This is ridiculous. And I don’t have any offsets or children! Idk what is going on…8?3 been using TurboTax for 7years and have NEVER had any issues. Who the hell is TPG products??!!! No one is answering the phone, no I haven’t seen any letters in the mail from the IRS. I NEED answers AND MY MONEY!!

@Nnhyme  - if you have no children, look at Line 30 of Form 1040.

if you received your 3rd stimulus last March - May, 2021, then Line 30 should be zero! That is probably the issue.  THe IRS adjusted Line 30 back to zero so that the refund is now less.

You can't receive both the 3rd stimulus AND the recovery credit on Line 30 - it's one or the other.

Does the IRS website indicate that you were sent less than what was reported on your federal tax return Form 1040 Line 34? - https://www.irs.gov/refunds

    If so, how much less?

    Level 2
    May 11, 2022

https://www.irs.gov/refunds gives no reason why the refund was so less.
Line 34 on 1040 shows the amount that turbotax showed when taxes were filed.

    Where is my Refund

    @Vonmoney100

First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:

    https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2021 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

    https://www.irs.gov/refunds

    To track your state refund:

    https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1901548-why-do-some-refunds-take-longer-than-others

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.

Just got off the phone with the IRS who satisfactorily explained why my return was adjusted, however, When I asked about this TPG Products deposit he said to me " ma'am, that is not the IRS, we are the Department of the Treasury".   So I went to the TPG website and started to read.  Found out that if you elect your TurboTax payment be taken from your refund that is when TPG becomes involved,  some how your refund is diverted to them they take the turbo fee and their fee from your refund and your bank deposit reflects TPG Products SBTG LLC.  I suggest to Turbo if you want to keep your business that you have built on trust from your clientele. that you loose TPG's number because they are going to cost you your reputation, the trust you built from the community and your  business.   Don't let someone like TPG come in and SCAM your customers for a $,  because that's what it amounts to.   This has caused an uproar from your customers, read the post.    You just lost my business.  Goodbye 😢👋

All you have to do is pay the fees with a credit card and avoid the 3rd party bank and the Extra $40 Refund Processing Service charge (45 in California).  And to avoid all the hassle and you should get the refund faster directly from the IRS.

Too late with that advice.  How about a lawsuit?

    Level 2

I'm working on my lawsuit.  I believe it is unlawful for turbotax (with small t's) to do this without prior warning.

How about a Class Action lawsuit?  It seems like there are literally thousands of us out here that are out millions of dollars.

I will be doing the same. I will also contact the IRS. Include me in the class action law suit!
