If you paid an amount in December 2016, you can include it as tuition paid.

Under box 2, on the 1098-T screen is a link: What if this is not what (student name) paid to the school? Click on that and you will be given a chance to enter what was actually paid in 2016.

Tuition paid includes all amounts you paid out-of-pocket, from student loans and distributions from 529 plans.

Thank you. Also, do I subtract the amount for room & board and dining from the amount actually paid to enter in the link?
