TurboTax keeps marking incorrectly that I did NOT receive a 1098-T even through I did

Delete the 1098-T and start over.

 

Go through the entire education interview until you reach a screen titled "Your Education Expenses Summary".  Click delete next to the student's name.  You'll then get the "Your Education Expenses Summary" screen again.  Click the "Add a student" button.

To clarify, exactly which line is NO marked? 

I'm assuming line 22, but column a or b? 1,2,3, or 4?

Yes, Line 22 on Form 8863, part (2) "Did the student receive Form 1098-T from this institution for 2022?"  

TurboTax is marking "No" but I am giving TurboTax the Information from each Box from the 1098-T.  The Yes Box should be Checked, not the No Box !

Are you sure that by deleting and then adding back with fix this problem? Correcting the "Did the student receive Form 1098-T from this Institution?"  Will it Change the "No" checked box to a "Yes"?

Will I have to re-enter the data again?

Q. Are you sure that by deleting and then adding back with fix this problem?

A.  No.  But I'm more sure of that than your chances of finding out what's wrong any other way. You've most likely entered something wrong.

Thank you!  Going through the entire education interview until I reached the screen titled "Your Education Expenses Summary".  Then clicking delete next to the student's name and then at "Your Education Expenses Summary", clicking  "Add a student" worked! Thank you for your help!

Having the same issue & I deleted student & reentered everything but no change..it’s still marking no for 2022 1098-t even thought I keep marking yes..does it really need to be marked yes because I’ve tried everything, help

Look at your tax forms. The program is a bunch of questions to get the right answer on your tax forms. If the forms themselves are correct, then you can file without worry. You will need to pay / have paid for the program to see all of your forms.

 

To see your forms:

If the forms are wrong, try deleting the college again and maybe the student. Perhaps the whole section. You could even have data stuck in there causing the issue. Follow these steps:

 

Desktop version: 

  1. Delete the form
  2. Save your return while closing the program.
  3. Update the program
  4. Open
  5. Enter the information again.

Online version:

A full or corrupted cache can cause problems in TurboTax, so sometimes you need to clear your cache (that is, remove these temporary files).

For stuck information follow these steps:

  1. Delete the form/ worksheet- if possible, see How to Delete  
  2. Log out of your return and try one or more of the following:
    • Don't use Internet Explorer.
    • Clear cache and cookies,
    • Sign in using a different browser.
    • Sign in using a different device.
  3. Log back into your return.
    • Enter the information again.
