My daughter attends a university in the UK which is on the IRS list of eligible schools. However it does not have an EIN. In form 8863, if I put nothing in there I don't get a tax credit. If I put 00 in there, it gives me the tax credit but says the EIN is invalid. What number do I put in to get the tax credit?

Unfortunately, without a valid EIN, you can not claim the American Opportunity Credit (AOC), but you may be eligible for the Lifetime Learning Credit.

Did you manage to use the OPE ID as EIN in your tax form?
