A full time student is defined by the IRS as a student enrolled for the number of hours or courses that the school considers to be full-time attendance, for at least five months or part-months in the tax year.
so if my daughter did 12 credit in spring and 12 credit in fall a total of more than 5 mos is she considered full time?
the school says at least 12 hours spring and fall and 9 summer. she did spring and fall not summer but the time is over 5months ? the example on turbo says yes but does the summer need hours too by school full time terms? or just full time for half a year which she is
Yes, since the school considers full time 12 credit hours during the spring and fall, then even if she did not do the summer session, she would be considered a full time student. She only has to do the full time credit hours for 5 months.
