Its worth noting that TT doesn't use that information for anything. It's only helpful for your own record keeping, but if it doesn't appear and you can't enter it, nothing in your return will change.
To enter a Schedule K-1
Or enter k-1 in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen. Click on Jump to k-1
Thanks for responding.
But yes, I see where to do a K-1, but as I go through that section filling in the information of the form. I never encountered (or at least I don't see it specifically) anything for box L "Partners Capital Account Analysis" or that increase line.
It asks about the normal boxes numbered 1-21, but not about box L.
That I can find....
Please follow the steps below to enter "Other Increase" on a K-1:
Alternatively, to search for K-1, click on the Search button on top right with the magnifying glass symbol and type k-1 and you should see a Jump to link which you can click and enter the information.
Make sure that you selected Schedule K-1 (Form 1065). The Partner’s Capital Account Analysis for box L will be shown on the screen labeled Enter Capital Account Information
Hi.
Thank you both for responding, I really appreciate it.
And I'm not sure why, but that specific page doesn't pop up. the one titled enter capital account information with all of those lines. It's just not one of the pages I click through.
No idea why, maybe because it is not my first year with this investment and K-1?
Just to be specific - the pages I go through are - Review info, type of partner, describe partnership, type of activity, did you participate, is it oil or gas, enter box 1, check boxes that have amount (box 20 for me), enter box 20 info, describe partnership, Report Carryovers - Regular Tax, Any Other Carryovers, Report AMT Carryovers, Report Other AMT Carryovers, Any Qualified Business Income (QBI) Carryovers?, Enter info about passive losses, We see you have Section 199A income, We need some information about your 199A income, Let's check for some uncommon adjustments, We're almost done, we need some information about this business in 2018.
And that's it. No page that you both mentioned.
Sometimes that page doesn't pop up on the first time through the K-1 interview (it's a bug). After you've completed it you'll be on a screen listing each of your K-1s. Click 'edit' to go back in, and the capital account screen will appear.
Alternately, when going through the first time, there's a button at the bottom of the screen that says "Show Forms". It will allow you to see the Form in question as you're going through the interview. You can just drop down and enter the Capital Account info directly.
Thanks for the response.
I have tried to go through a bunch of times, with edit, still hasn't popped up unfortunately.
And for the "show form" approach, I don't see that button? (I'm using online.)

Forms is only available in the TurboTax desktop CD/Download editions.
Have you tried deleting the Schedule K-1 and then re-entering?

@nexchap
The IRS does not require that info? It doesn't have to be in my return?
The IRS gets a copy of your K-1 from the partnership. They only expect your return to properly account for the income and expense entries on the K-1. But your return won't include a copy of the K-1, or any of the box L information.
