I have an LLC and I pay myself as an employee. I also have a job where I get W-2 wages. I have prepared everything through Turbotax and I see the Form 1120-S completed, but don't I still have to prepare a 1040 for myself? If so, why isn't Turbotax preparing this document also or is it not needed?

Yes. You do still have to prepare a form 1040 for yourself. However, you will need to do this using TurboTax Premium or TurboTax Premier or Home and Business download.
To file your 1120S, you are using the strictly business program that does not prepare the individual return. When you file your individual return, you will then enter your W-2 from work, your W-2 from your S-corp and your K-1 from the S-Corp. These do not automatically transfer, you will have to manually enter them.

That's super helpful, thank you. I don't know why TurboTax didn't just integrate the whole thing or give me that choice. That's what sort of threw me off. Have a great day
