I went through the step by step until I got to the point where I needed to add details to my Form Cs and found that somewhere along the line, TurboTax changed my Form C for one of my businesses to reflect the text put in the prompt for "Describe the reason for this 1099-NEC". I have LOTS of forms attached to that original Form C, so no way I want to create a new one and try to start that all over again. So how to I rename (edit) the wayward Form C to what it is supposed to be?
Or do I just start this whole process all over again and hope it doesn't get screwed up again? Not the best option....
I've been using TurboTax for years, and this is the first time this has happened.

If you are using TurboTax Online, use the following steps to change the description of your business:
If you are using a CD/downloaded version of TurboTax, the steps are similar:
Thank you. That does seem kind of odd to me, though, as there is a description prompt as well as a business name prompt, which in this case I need to make both the same text. I am using the CD version, btw.
It works, but I would think the description prompt should actually be a DESCRIPTION of the business and not just the name, which in this case, really is not very descriptive at all. It actually got changed somehow because it used the description of the 1099-NEC I chose for that business entity and changed the name on the Form C.
Thanks again.
How do I get back to "general business information"? Or the screen that asked for a name and decription? This has been a 15 minute circular nightmare!
Follow the steps from Tax Expert @AnnetteB6 on the post to get back to general business information @inviewnow. It will take you to General info. You can edit whatever question you want to change.
If you are using CD/Download, the general business info questions appear on several screens. Check the right boxes.
I looked at Annette??? instructions and do not find those screens on my download version of TT.
I tried personal info, business, and then personal. In the personal entry screen I was able to edit each 1099-NEC changing to the business name. However, the amounts are not appearing in the column. Last year they were 1099-misc and those $ are in the appropriate location. So now what?
It sounds like you are using TurboTax Home & Business. After you open your return, follow these steps:
To review the entries made for Form 1099-NEC:
The first prompt on the 1099-NEC worksheet wants a general category of the purpose of the 1099, "e.g., teaching." It does not ask for my business and says it will ask for that later.
Then the second prompt asks to "select the business" that created the income. What should I put in that box? Should it be the name of my business? What if I have more than one business?
In an effort to eliminate confusion and avoid relabeling of entries, I recommend that you:
So, if you have self-employment activities A and B and IRS forms 1099-NEC X, Y and Z:
Enter the appropriate 1099-NEC into the correct self-employment activity. For instance,
In TurboTax Online, create the self-employment activity by following these steps:
In TurboTax Online, within the create the self-employment activity:
