Making changes in QuickBooks Desktop after uploading file to TurboTax Business: Start over or simply re-upload?

After uploading the QuickBooks Desktop file to TurboTax Business and going through much of the process of creating the return, if you need to make changes to the source QuickBooks data, do you have to start the process from scratch, or can you upload the revised QuickBooks file and TurboTax readjusts for the changes/updates? A use case is to do what-if scenarios for moving expenses from the tax year to current year, or vice versa to determine impact on tax liability.

If you already imported, you can re-import updated QuickBooks info by selecting Replace whenever prompted.

@Cass0317 In TurboTax Business Desktop, there is an option under the File menu to "Remove Imported Data." Would that be another way to remove the imported QuickBooks data, so that it could be corrected in QuickBooks and then re-imported into TurboTax? If not, what is this function of this "Remove Imported Data" option vs. the "Replace" option?

"Remove Imported Data" would be the option to delete existing data, whereas the "Replace" option would be used to replace the data that currently exists. For more information, please visit the help article below.

@ChondelLO Thanks for the quick answer. In the FAQ for the question "How do I update or delete something I imported into TurboTax?", TurboTax warns against updating or deleting data imported into TurboTax:

"Changing information you imported can be problematic. For example, if you're audited you'd have to explain why the numbers on your return differ from the original data source. If you must update or delete items, be sure to keep detailed notes with your tax records."

Can we assume this is referring to changing/deleting data (from QuickBooks or other source) AFTER you have filed your tax return? If the final data imported or re-imported into TurboTax matches QuickBooks data, it would seem there is no issue vis a vis an audit.

If the final data imported matches Quickbooks then there is no issue and you have nothing to worry about.
