How do I import my QuickBooks info into TurboTax?

If you use QuickBooks Online, there’s no need to import your info. You can do your taxes directly inside QuickBooks, without signing into TurboTax. If you use QuickBooks Solopreneur, follow these steps to file personal self-employed taxes. If you use other QuickBooks Online products, follow these steps to file business taxes.

If you use QuickBooks Desktop and TurboTax Desktop for Windows, you can import some of your info (but not all). This isn’t available for Mac. Mac customers can upload a .txf file instead (instructions here).

Follow these steps:

  • Open QuickBooks.

  • Make sure you've assigned tax lines to your accounts in QuickBooks.

  • Open your QuickBooks data file.

  • Open your return in TurboTax.

  • In TurboTax, select File, then Import, then From Accounting Software.

  • Choose QuickBooks

  • Select Continue.

  • We’ll walk you through the rest of the import process.

  • After importing, review your data to make sure it's correct.

To delete this info, select File then Remove Imported Data.
