I have 2 vehicles I use for bus+personal. 1 vehicle didn't get used in 2022 but was used for 2nd business. Turbotax is showing error bec I put 0 for business miles - why

I still have the vehicle I just didn't use it last year for that one particular business.  Turbotax want me to put more than zero in mileage or say I no longer have the vehicle, both of which is untrue.

The only question it asks me about the vehicle is when did I dispose of it (even though I still use it for other business).  I put 12/31/21 as the disposal date, but it is still flagging errors wanting me to enter business miles for this vehicle for 2022

Update:  I decided to just delete the vehicle from THAT business for that year - it worked, no errors flagged.

What type of deduction are you claiming against the vehicle that was not used in your business?  For example, are you taking the standard mileage deduction?  If yes, then you need to enter your business miles, otherwise there is no deduction to claim on your return.  If you  are claiming actual expenses, you would not get any deduction without an entry for business miles driven.  The actual expense deductions are all based on business miles driven.  Thus, the error message you are seeing is consistent with IRS policy regarding the business use of a vehicle.  If you did not use the vehicle for business in 2022, then you should consider removing it from your return.

I don't claim vehicle expenses other than standard mileage deduction.  Last year, I did not use one of the vehicles at all for any business miles, the other vehicle was used instead.  However, I still have the vehicle, and have already used it for business miles so far for 2023.  For 2022 Turbotax wants me to either include business miles (even though I didn't have any) or report the vehicle as disposed of (which it has not been).   Just out of curiosity I enter 1 mile in the boxes it was flagging as error - and it accepted that without errors being flagged.  I have saved my work so far, but have not yet filed in case I received a suggestion around this dilemma.

For that business, you converted it to personal use.  So tell that to the program (which might be in the disposition area).
