Entering small amount business expenses without upgrading - not worth it

It is ridiculous that TurboTax will not let me go ahead and enter my small amount of business expenses without upgrading. The interview says, as long as you have at least $600 in expenses the upgrade it worth it, but never asks you if you have at least $600 in expenses. I just want to enter my small amount of expenses without losing all the deduction to the cost of upgrading. TurboTax, stop telling me what's best for me! I need to be able to enter expenses on Schedule C. Anyone have a solution?

If you qualify There is also The Turbo Tax Free File program which is free for federal and state.  And has more forms than the Federal Free Edition, like Schedules A, B, C , D, E, F, EIC, H, K-1, SE,  etc.

To qualify for the Free File website  you just need to meet one of these 3 things.

AGI $36,000 or less.

Active duty military with AGI of $69,000 or less

OR qualify for EIC (earned income credit.)

In order to use the Free File program, you have to start it at a special website.  Try signing in at the top right.

ONE: I don't qualify

TWO: I am almost done with my taxes and I wouldn't really like the idea of starting over

THREE: How dare TurboTax force me to upgrade on the premise that as long as I have at least $600 in expenses it will pay for itself. I don't need any help making sure I have accounted for all my business expenses cause I know exactly what they are and simply need to enter them so I can get my tax credit. Not only that, suppose I have $500 in expenses, why doesn't the interview say "Do you have at least $600 in expenses" so that I could then say NO, and go ahead and enter my expenses for my business profit and loss.

This is my last year using TurboTax!

If you don't want to upgrade to the Online Self Employed version you can buy a lower Desktop version.  All the Desktop programs have the same forms.  You just get more help and guidance in the higher versions.  You will need a full Windows or Mac computer to install it on.  And the Desktop programs have more features and advantages over the online versions.

You can move your Online file to the Desktop program and continue without paying for Online or needing to reenter your info.

To continue in the desktop version see this…….

After you get the program installed the first thing to do before you open your tax return .tax file is to update the program and install any state programs you had. Then open your file. So you first might need to start a fake return to be able to download the state program (go to FILE - NEW).

You can buy the CD/Download here,
