You would need to go to the section of TurboTax where you entered the income and change the reason for why you received it. Was it from a 1099-MISC? If that is what it was from, type other income in the search box and click on jump to other income in the drop down box and that will take you to where you need to edit it.
Thanks for your reply. Under Other Income there is a page that asks me to describe the reason for the 1099-Misc. I entered "Appraisal Review Board Member." However, on Schedule 1, Line 8, TurboTax entered "Non-employee compensation from 1099-Misc." What I want is to add "IRC 1402 (c) (2)" to that line and I don't see a way to edit the description inserted by TurboTax.
TurboTax seems to have a fixed answer based on which box on the 1099-MISC the income was entered in. I don't see any way to change it.
Because TT didn't' come up with an update yet for the $10,200 UC tax exception I'd like to edit line 8 of Schedule 1 myself.
When I try to enter something on line 8, and a numeric value, it seems as if the field is locked.
I click on the line and then it takes me to the 1040 form.
According to the IRS the UC tax exception of $10,200 can be put on line 8 of Schedule 1.
But, turbo tax wont let me do that!
Who can I enter a value in this field?
What version of TurboTax are you using? The updates have been made to the online version. Desktop updates are underway but I do not have an expected date for completion.
