How can I delete an entry under "Miscellaneous Income"? No 1099/W-2. I can not get back to my original entry to edit/delete the amount, only add additional income.

Please try these instructions to delete an entry "Miscellaneous Income":

1. Login to your TurboTax Account
2. Click "Take Me To My Return"
3. Click "Federal" from the left side of your screen
4. Scroll down to  “Miscellaneous Income” and click “Edit/Add”
5. Scroll down to the income type you like to delete/edit and click “Revisit”
6. Delete information and click “Continue”

And that is the issue I keep having. I go Revisit the section and yet do not have the option to delete/edit  previously entered amounts, only asking if I have income to enter. So I’m essentially stuck with this Income amount being listed, but no way to access it so it can be fixed. I have cleared my browser cookies/cache, so that isn’t the problem.

Let’s try saying “yes" when it asks if you have income to enter, then leave it blank or remove the amounts listed. After that you should see that summary screen where you can delete the income if the previous step didn’t help. Please keep me updated if this works.

I finally was able to correctly answer the interview questions enough to finally gain access to the information I was looking for.  Not entirely sure where I was going wrong, but I likely was not paying attention/misreading the questions which prevented getting where I needed to go.  Thank you for your help.

I'm having the same problem. I cannot access the miscellaneous income I previously entered in order to delete it. When I go through the questions and click yes, it still didn't take me to the place to enter my income.

Can someone please list the exact steps? When I "Revisit" and walk through the steps again, I still do not see an option to delete the amount. Its persisting.

Yes, if you have miscellaneous income that you need to report, you can go back to revisit that income entry by using the following steps. The income would be required to be reported unless you have special circumstances.

If you entered a Form 1099-MISC follow the steps below.

• Search (upper right) for 1099misc > Click the Jump to... link and arrive at the page where you can edit or delete (click the trash can to delete)

If you entered income under 'Other income not already reported on a Form W-2 or Form 1099' follow the steps below.

1. Click Federal Taxes -> Wages & Income and scroll down to Less Common Income
2. Go to the last selection, Miscellaneous Income and click Start
3. Select the first option, Other income not already reported on a Form W-2 or Form 1099 and click Start
4. Edit or delete your entry

Under section called Federal, go to

1. Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C
2. See income reported there of $X
3. Hit Edit/Add
4. Click Revisit on `Other income not already reported on a Form W-2 or Form 1099`
5. Say `Yes` to `Did You Receive Any Other Wages`? and click `Continue`

and follow along. The issue is that I never see a delete button or even $X anywhere anymore. After the form is complete and I am back to Federal, I still see $X listed under `Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C`

You can send us a “diagnostic” file that has your “numbers” but not your personal information.  If you would like to do this, here are the instructions: 

TurboTax Online:

Go to the black panel on the left side of your program and select Tax Tools. 

1. Then select Tools below Tax Tools. 
2. A window will pop up which says Tools Center.  
3. On this screen, select Share my file with Agent. 
4. You will see a message explaining what the diagnostic copy is.  Click okay through this screen and then you will get a Token number. 
5. Reply to this thread with your Token number. This will allow us to open a copy of your return without seeing any personal information.  

TurboTax CD/Download:

If you like, you can send a copy of your return that will be scrubbed to eliminate your personal data by using these steps:

1. Click on Online in the top left menu of TurboTax CD/Download for Windows
2. Select 'Send Tax File to Agent'
3. Write down or send an image of your token number then place in this issue.
4. We can then review your exact scenario for a solution.

We will then be able to see exactly what you are seeing and we can determine what exactly is going on in your return and provide you with a resolution.
