Hi 426silver,

Yes, TurboTax automatically creates Schedule C (or Schedule C-EZ) when you enter your business information or when you enter what the IRS considers self-employment income, which is often reported on Form 1099-MISC.

Does Turbo Tax Premier create a schedule-C and Schedule-1, when entering 1099-K information.  Can 1099-K information be entered in the Premier version and if so where?  If not, what Turbo Tax version should I purchase?

Online Premier does not support Schedule C.   Only online Self-Employed can prepare a Schedule C.   Or...if you use any version of the CD/download, they can all prepare a Schedule C.

I must have done something wrong with TurboTax 2024 Premier. When I went through the flow and it asked about self employment, it told me I had to upgrade to Home & Business to file a Schedule C. I don't see anything under Income to generate a Schedule C, nor a way to import Business Income/Expense from Quicken. I had to pay the $15 to upgrade from Premier to Home & Business. It sounds like the there's difference in terms of the software in TurboTax Premier vs H&B other than the Business tab being hidden in Premier but not in H&B.

@sunk818 You posted to an old thread that has had no activity since 2022.   In the past couple of years, there has been a change to the name of one of the online software versions ---which is what the original post in this thread referred to.   There is no longer an online "Premier" version of the software.   For 2022, there was online Premier or online Self-Employed.    Those versions have now  combined to become online Premium, which is the online version of the software that can be used to prepare a Schedule C.

With desktop download software, you can prepare a Schedule C with any version, including Deluxe.   If you have desktop Premier, you can, in fact, prepare a Schedule C, or you can upgrade to desktop Home and Business if you need more help in the interview screens to prepare your Schedule C.

@sunk818  Sorry you upgraded to Home & Business.   Turbo Tax was just recommending Home & Business, it was just a suggestion.   You can still enter self employment and Schedule C in the lower Desktop programs.   It was here….

Under Federal Taxes Tab

Wages and Income,

Choose Jump to Full List -or- I'll choose what I work on

Then scroll way down to Business Items

Business Income and Expenses - Click the Start or Update button

You should see the Business Summary page that lists your businesses, (right below the list you can Add Another Business)
