I sell handmade items on Etsy and sometimes at local crafts shows, but this year I didn't have any sales because I went back to school to get another degree. Also, my husband works part-time for his brother-in-law and received a 1099 from him. Do we need to use the Home & Business version of TurboTax or can we get by with the Deluxe version? This will be our first time using TurboTax, so we're kind of nervous about it.

You would need TurboTax Home & Business if you have self-employment income and expenses.
If you buy the Desktop program you can use any version. All the Desktop programs have the same forms. You just get more help and guidance in the higher versions.
For Online, You can enter Self Employment Income into Online Deluxe or Premier but if you have any expenses you will have to upgrade to the Self Employed version.
Thank you. I already bought the Home & Business version at Office Depot yesterday, thinking that was the version I needed. But then I was wondering if I could get by with the Deluxe version since it's cheaper. I'm guessing I have to do my taxes online because my computer doesn't have a disk drive? Neither of us had business expenses.
When you buy the CD you also can download the program. How to install Turbo Tax if you don't have a CD drive
