I bought the CD, but my computer doesn't have a CD drive

You can still install the TurboTax software you purchased if your computer doesn't have a CD drive. There are two ways you can request a download of the software, either by using our Contact us page to submit a request, or by calling the number on your CD box.

Set up your TurboTax account if you don't already have one. Be sure to include your address when completing your information.

Don't know if you already have an account? Here's how to find out.

  1. Go to our Contact us page to start your request.
    1. Select CD/Download and your operating system in the, Which product is your question about? drop-down.
    2. In the Which edition? drop-down, select the version you purchased (Basic, Deluxe, Premier, or Home & Business).
    3. In the What do you need help with? box, type in, No CD drive, and select Continue.  
  2. On the OK, let’s get you an answer! screen, fill out your contact information and select Get the phone number.
  3. On the next screen, you’ll see our phone number and your unique support ID, which you may need for your call. It will help identify you and save you time. Be sure to have your CD handy to be able to provide information to verify your purchase. Call the number and continue through the prompts.
    • If you’re asked why you’re calling, say, “No CD drive”.
  4. If you talk to a specialist, your downloadable software will be pushed to your TurboTax account.
    • Sign in to My Downloads and download and install your TurboTax software.
  5. If you’re guided through our automated phone system, you’ll be asked for your 6 digit CD ASM number from the front of your CD. No other codes from the box will work for verification purposes.
    • After your call, you’ll receive an email to confirm your download. Follow the link to verify. Enter the information from your email in the form. Once you complete the form and submit, your download will launch and begin automatically. Open the download to install on your computer.
    • If for whatever reason your download didn’t begin or there was an error in loading the page, you’ll need to submit another request and start the process again.

  1. If you purchased at Costco, call the number listed on the box. If you didn’t, and don’t contact us online, you can call our general number to request your download.
    • Be sure to have your CD handy to be able to provide information to verify your purchase.
