No one can see your tax return. You have not mentioned what you changed when you amended. If you changed something regarding the income you entered, then it is quite possible for your AGI to change on the Form 1040X and be different from the AGI you had on line 11 of your original Form 1040.
If the amounts in column A on the 1040X are NOT the same as on the original return then you have problems ... you should stop and figure out what was changed before continuing.
AMENDED RETURN WAS TO SEPARATE DIVIDEND INCOME FROM INTEREST INCOME AND SHOW THE APPICABLE WITHOLDING TAX FOR EACH ENTITY - AS A NON-RESIDENT TAX IS WITHHELD AT SOURCE.
WHEN LOOKING AT THE REASON AT THE END OF ALL THE CHANGES TURBO TAX OFFERS AN EXPLANATION AS TO WHY THE AMOUNTS OWED OR REFUND IS DUE. THIS SUMMARY REPORTS THE ORIGINAL & AMENDED DATA IN THE INCORRECT COLUMNS.
Turbo tax shows the amounts of the original return and amended return ( these are transposed) in screen displayed.
This is not correct all the lines are inverted.
Original return column should show numbers shown in amended return
TurboTax summaries -- not important.
actual 1040-X you will SUBMIT to IRS -- important.
Yes agree, this is a Turbo Tax problem. Turbo Tax should bring over the figures that were used to file the original 2021 return. How can TurboTax be contacted to reset and bring across the original TurboTax filed data.
Turbo Tax does not show anywhere how they arrived at the AGI as originally submitted - even using the workpapers reports. In the amendment my income totals do NOT change only the split between interest and dividends. As such Turbo tax shows the amended AGI to equal the original filing, but shows a DIFFERENCE from what they bring over?
I cannot submit the amended return which shows that TurboTax has brought forward the INCORRECT AGI.
Secondly Turbo tax does not offer to clear any data that is entered when using Amend, the Cancel Option just leaves the user where they were and not clear the data and start again.
