Why do I need to file Form 1040? I am a server and never have had Other Tax reported, but this year it is saying I do. I don't know what this means or how to change it

The Form 1040 is your federal tax return.  The Form 1040EZ and Form 1040A are no longer used.

Where are you seeing Other Tax?  Have you received your W-2 from your employer?

EVERYONE uses a Form 1040 now -- that began for 2018 returns.  Maybe you did not notice.  There are no more 1040EZ or 1040A forms.  Everybody uses a Form 1040 now.

Enter your W-2 exactly as it appears and let the software do the calculations for you.

If you're seeing "Other Tax" being generated in TurboTax, and you're a server who receives tip income, it's very likely that TurboTax is computing this additional tax based on information you input from your Form W-2.

You have to file a Form 4137, Social Security and Medicare Tax on Unreported Tip Income, with your return whenever box 8 on a Form W-2 shows allocated tips.  You have to report these tips as income, and a special tax calculation is made based on this amount.  That's what you're seeing as "Other Tax."

To see how this calculation works, please see the IRS' Form 4137 and its instructions.
