I completely forgot to include my 1099-G(Unemployment) from early last year. I need to file an amendment to include this.
I am NOT referring to those that have been instructed to not file an amendment because they filed their 1099-G prior to the tax break. I completely forgot to enter the 1099-G altogether.
When I try to file this amendment, it says TurboTax is waiting for further instruction from the IRS. I thought this was fixed over a week ago, and this isn’t even the “issue” that TurboTax was waiting for further information on.

If you have already e-filed or mailed the return, then you will need to wait until the IRS has accepted or rejected the return before you can make any changes. Please see the information below:
If they reject it, then you can make the needed changes and re-submit the return. How do I fix a rejected return?
If they accept it, then you will need to wait until you have received your refund, if applicable, and then amend that return to make changes, if needed. Amended returns have to be printed and mailed in and take up to 16 weeks to be processed.
If accepted, wait until you have received your refund or taxes due paid, then you can go here for instructions on amending your return.
The return was accepted and I got my money already. It still will not allow me to file an electronic amendment, and says Turbo Tax is awaiting further direction from the IRS despite that supposedly being solved days ago.
Also, as of last year Turbo Tax allowed amendments electronically. You do not have to print out and mail them in.
I’ve already seen and followed everything in the link you provided. It has no helped, and the Turbo Tax system will still not allow me to file my electronic amendment described in the link you provided, despite my return having been accepted and paid already.
TurboTax cannot release the 1040X, Amended US Tax Return, until the IRS approves TurboTax version (programming) of it. This is true for all of the Federal tax forms (and for all the tax prep companies), which is why some have later release dates than others.
How much was your unemployment? If less than $10,200 and your adjusted gross income was less than $150,000, none of it will be taxable. If you had withholding, you will receive a refund. You will want to check with your state department of revenue as to how they are taxing your unemployment benefits this year. Some states are coupling with the Federal provisions, some are partially, and some are not.
I’m getting back over $1000 extra. It let me go through the Amendment, it just wouldn’t let me actually file it. Do we have an ETA on when TurboTax will be allowing users to file amendments? I’ve searched and can’t find an answer.
Due to the passing of the American Rescue Plan, there is a delay with the ability to amend returns. Please see the below TurboTax Help Article for more details and a link to sign up for an update when the amend option is available.
