I efiled around March 10-13 and it was accepted. Today is May 3rd and I went to check the refund status and it says that it’s still processing. I wanted to contact the IRS, but because of covid-19 their call centers are closed. How much longer should I expect to wait? I did file for child tax credit, but I wouldn’t think that it would take nearly 8 weeks.

Waiting is frustrating—refunds are taking longer in many cases. These are not normal times. It is not possible for TurboTax to speed up the IRS for you. It seems to be taking longer than usual for them to process returns. They are short staffed; and they are processing millions of tax returns at the same time that they have been burdened with the task of processing millions of stimulus checks. The IRS is not taking calls right now.

TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer.
Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.
You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 20 of your Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

On the IRS site you are also offered the use of an app called IRS2Go

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.

My concern is that the IRS is claiming that there’s no delays for e-filers’ returns and that they continue issuing refunds as normal. Yet, I am still waiting nearly 8 weeks and still nothing in my bank account. I understand that Turbo Tax doesn’t have any control over this, but I wanted to see if anyone else is going through this. IRS has not contacted me via mail about any corrections. In this situation, would they? Also, I’m surprised that I received a stimulus payment through direct deposit. I’d rather get my actual refund because it’s a bigger amount than the $1200 I got.
The online link is your best option to track your refund. I have attached a link with more answers from the IRS as to why your refund may be taking longer to process.
There is a delay in processing the returns as the IRS is not processing paper returns at the moment due to Covid-19 and social distancing policies in effect.
