It depends.
Please see the following link from the IRS for an explanation of what may be holding up your refund for Tax Topic 152.
i electronically filled feb 14th and still havent received mine shows topic 152
When I’m going to have my money
Min have been over 21 days and its says tax topic 152 I fed March 30 and still says the same thing!
Where’s my refund
Why haven’t I recurved my 2018 return
@Frankinlee You are posting to an old thread full of posts from other users--and you have provided no details at all. When did you file your 2018 return? Did you e-file it before the filing deadline in 2019, or did you prepare and mail it at a later time?
I did my taxes on February 2nd and still have not received it! I can’t find anyone to help me with this issue! What can I do or who could I talk to about this?
@Shelly pegram Do you know if your return was accepted? What does it say about your e-file status?

If it was accepted, then what does it say on the IRS site? Has there been any indication that you are under review or need to verify your identity?

Listen to each menu before making the selection.
First choose your language. Press 1 for English.
Then do NOT choose the first choice re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
Instead, press 2 for "personal income tax".
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions." It should then transfer you to an agent.
I have not received my Federal tax refund filed in February 2020. It says see information tax topic 152. Why is this taking so long. I phoned The IRS and I understand the shut down in April but this is ridiculous.
If you owe taxes from a previous year not filed they will keep my refund???
Yes they can and will hold up this years refund since they know you owe ... running away and not facing the facts is not going to work anymore ... you need to file the missing returns asap.

The Internal Revenue Service announced it will visit more taxpayers who haven't filed tax returns for prior years in an effort to increase tax compliance and further enforce the law. In addition, the IRS is increasing the use of data analytics, research and new compliance strategies, including personal visits, to reach taxpayers and tax return preparers who have not filed federal tax returns.
The goal of these strategies is to bring delinquent taxpayers into compliance with their filing and payment tax obligations and promote future tax compliance.
To further promote voluntary compliance with tax laws, the IRS is also using new ways to leverage existing processes and systems, including:
Online preparation and e-filing for 2016, 2017 and 2018 is permanently closed.
To file a return for a prior tax year
If you need to prepare a return for 2016, 2017, or 2018 you can purchase and download desktop software to do it, then print, sign, and mail the return(s)
https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/
You may also want to explore purchasing the software from various retailers such as Amazon, Costco, Best Buy, Walmart, Sam’s, etc.
Remember to prepare your state return as well—if you live in a state that has a state income tax.
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Note: The desktop software you need to prepare the prior year return must be installed/downloaded to a full PC or Mac. It cannot be used on a mobile device.
If you are getting a refund, there is not a penalty for filing past the deadline. If you owe taxes, the interest/penalties will be calculated by the IRS based on how much you owe and when they receive your return and payment. The IRS will bill you for this; it will not be calculated by TurboTax.
I e-filed and still have not received my refund. Filed later but still on time. This is crazy. Im glad I was not depending on the money like some have to.
I've been told to refer to tax topic 152 after I was just told I've meant all required aspects and its been over two weeks they told me n still haven't gotten a return
