Turbotax deleted my return and IRS rejected Return

I finished return and saved it. I thought I'd give it another day and look it over. Next day (yesterday) return disappeared.  Called wife over to help me redo. We redid and saved . Looked the same, so we filed. Today IRS rejected because of bad pin.?... Turbo tax emailed saying IRS rejected . We went to look for Return , it's gone!!!

E-mail says

IND-031-04 - The primary taxpayer's AGI or Self-select PIN from last year does not match IRS records.

We filed through a professional last year. (I did buy Turbo Tax to see estimate on Tax)

We  got on Turbo tax site since we paid the extra 45 dollars for help... Finally go computer person to say they would call in 23 minutes.... 1 hour 10 minutes and counting later still waiting..

Question - Where is our Return?  No one has called to help us....

Anyone else have this problem?

You have to sign onto your online account using the exact same user ID you used to create the online account.

Close all TurboTax windows on your web browser (including this one).  Copy and paste the account recovery website link onto a new web browser window and run the tool.

Use this TurboTax account recovery website to get a list of all the user ID's for an email address.  Run the tool against any email addresses you may have used - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/account-recovery

If none of the user ID's received will access your account, then use the option shown in blue on the account recovery website, "Try something else"

If you used the desktop CD/Download editions installed on your computer, the only copy of your tax data file and any PDF's will be on the computer where the return was created.  TurboTax does not store online any returns completed using the desktop editions.

To access your prior year tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the userID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and on the section Your tax returns & documents click on Show.  Click on the Year and Click on Download/print return (PDF)

See this TurboTax support FAQ for accessing prior year online tax returns - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/prior-year-return/help/how-do-i-access-my-prior-year-return/01/270...

If you still cannot access your account, you can contact TurboTax customer service/support through their contact website during business hours.

See this TurboTax support FAQ for a contact link and hours of operation - https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/3401489

Submit your question/problem during business hours and then use the option for Call (a phone number will be provided for Call) to speak directly with a TurboTax agent -

Note:  The Call option will not be available when TurboTax Support is closed.

Support can also be reached by messaging them on these pages https://www.facebook.com/turbotax/ and https://twitter.com/TeamTurboTax

Turbotax deleted my return and IRS rejected Return

This just happened to me today.  I completed the return weeks ago, and was systematically going thru all the paperwork to review. (I had even saved the hardcopy PDF of all the forms... Which I had found one error on and needed to make a quick change.)

When I entered today, TurboTax did an update, and then asked me if I wanted to BEGIN my return.  It found my .tax file from last year, but nothing from this year.  My 2019 TurboTax file has been wiped clean for both federal and state.  There is nothing from today in my recycle bin or elsewhere on my computer.  I couldn't be more angry that I have to start over instead of taking the 5 minutes I needed to e-file today.

TurboTax now only offers support during M-F business hours.  Why the HECK would an update delete all the files?! Shame on you, TurboTax!

Turbotax deleted my return and IRS rejected Return

An update will not remove tax files ... they are still in there somewhere so do a file search for anything ending in *.tax  ... and check your trash can.   Also, in the future, always save a PDF and .taxfile to a removable storage medium for safe keeping.

Did you e-file your tax return and was it accepted?
Only the IRS and your State control when and if a Federal or State tax refund is Approved and Issued.

You complete your tax return by finishing all 3 Steps in the File section. In Step 3, to e-file your tax return, you must click on the large Orange button labeled "Transmit my returns now".

After completing the File section and e-filing your tax return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first email when your tax return was transmitted and the second email when the tax return has either been accepted or rejected.

Note - Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund.  Only the taxpayer listed on the tax return can obtain the status of a tax refund or a tax return.

To check the status of an e-filed return, open up your desktop product or log into your TurboTax Online Account. You can find your status within the TurboTax product.
If accepted by the IRS use the federal tax refund website to check the refund status - https://www.irs.gov/refunds
If accepted by the state use this TurboTax support FAQ to check the state tax refund status - https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1899433-how-do-i-track-my-state-refund

After the tax return has been Accepted by the IRS (meaning only that they received the return) it will be in the Processing mode until the tax refund has been Approved and then an Issue Date will be available on the IRS website.
