I received the message Take Action: Your refund is delayed Reference code 1541. Never seen that in the history of filing my taxes ! Anybody else seen this?

I Get The Same Message When I Try To Track My Refund Take Action There’s Been A Delay In Proccessing Your Refund Code 1541 I Called The IRS Today Around 6pm And The Guy I Spoke With Said My Refund Is Being Review Do To The PATH Act EIC And ACTC And The Review Will Take 45 Days Beginning On Feb 25th And 45 Days From Feb 25th Is April 11th So I’m Guessing I Won’t Get My Refund Back Until April, He Didn’t Say Anything About A Letter But Idk I’m Just Praying Everyone Get An Update On WMR Soon And Everyone Get Their Refunds Back Soon Fingers Crossed A lot Of You Guys Comments Has Been Really Helpful For Me Hopefully We All Get Good News Soon Good Luck Everyone...

Okay here's the information that I received, the IRS isn't randomly selecting returns they are in fact reviewing every return thoroughly. Their using the "path act" to prolong the process to make people think that's the delay. It has to do with fraudulent returns in the past they've let slip by and etc, if anyone received the 1541 reference code you're being reviewed no questions asked. Something isn't right with what you reported, it can be something minor as in address change etc. And the reason why TurboTax users are being affected by this is because TurboTax will let you submit your return without caution. Their system isn't up to date like every other tax service we've used in the past, you may say you've used TurboTax in the past yes but this year the IRS isn't letting anything pass them. So if you make a mistake with TurboTax the only way you'll know is if you pay that extra $50 to speak to a tax specialist that's insane. Until they update their software this is gonna continue to happen. I hate to say they got a lot of people this year on the "free free free free" which in fact it isn't free and they don't look over your return as they should. So anything that doesn't add up or doesn't seem right to the IRS you will be reviewed that's why so many of us is being reviewed. You can claim a child that you haven't been claiming that's fine I guess, but if your reporting wages that the IRS don't see then you have a problem. I can go on and on about what I've heard just know anybody that has the 1541 code and if your information don't add up the IRS knows. You will not receive an update if the IRS can't match what your reporting. Not trying to break anyone's spirit, but this tax year 2019 will make history. In all my years I've never had to go through a review I have a family to feed and bills to pay. I worked for this money dammit I can't help pay for a boarder wall when I'm barely making it ijs.

@bwhisper24 IRS isn't gonna hold your taxes because of an off set(they'll take was owed and release the rest), 1541 means your being reviewed has nothing to do with that. It's something else dear.

They have no proof that I worked in 2018, they said my employer didn’t report it? I’ve been with the same place for years, so I sent in my w2 and I am sending pay check stubs for the whole year today. They have to call the owner of the business and go from there. She told me it could take up to May 30th so I guess we are all getting that 1541 code for a different reason. She gave me a date of May 30th to be resolved if not before. Said they are backlogged.

@sjmiller0323 they want even tell me what's wrong with my return for me to even began fixing the problem. If there's something I did wrong why not let me know so I can help them, instead of waiting to the last minute. This is my very first time filing my own return I'm sure I might've made a error or 2 things happen.

I just talked to them.  She said everything is fine and they would be sending me a letter either saying No action required OR it will say please send us a copy of W-2, address, etc. (to verify information).  Basically, I was chosen at random to check my information for fraud purposes.  They said give 45 days to receive refund, just like everyone above.  I think the 1541 is a random code for fraud purposes.  It makes sense that they would choose people at random.  I know it sucks but we have been without this money for a year now so we can wait another 45 days.  I, too, was depending on this for some bills but unfortunately we are not PROMISED this money at 21 days.  At least you are not alone in this situation and you are finding out answers now so you can make prior arrangements before the end of the month.  Your money will not be taken forever, give it some patience and it will end up in your account.  Most of us didn't do anything wrong on your taxes (maybe everyone) we were simply chosen at random.

@toccorap29  if you call the TA and tell them you have a hardship they will start the process and help you through it. Mine was, the motor in my car blew up two weeks ago. It took forever on the phone to start the process but it’s been fairly easy after I was assigned a case worker. They needed my w2, ID, paystubs and a letter from my job. Now I’m waiting on the irs to call my employer and go from there. She did tell me it could take up to May 30th but was hoping for that 45 day mark. However this is my first time dealing with anything like this. I am just hoping it doesn’t take until the end of May :(

Just got off the phone with a representative her exact words for me were “did you claim a EITC” which I replied yes.... she said “those returns couldn’t be processed till the 15th with the 21 day mark beginning on the 15th and said those type of refunds have been released daily from said date” she also said a big update was comin tomorrow feb 23rd which should update most of our statuses... pretty much sounds like unless you received a letter of some sort your refund should be released starting tomorrow if not sometime in the next 21 days... I didn’t receive any letters my account been at 1541 for last 10 days
