The accurate calculations guarantee form is not usable, the fields are not visible. How can I submit my claim?

I received a notice of underpayment and penalties due to miscalculation. I searched and found “accurate calculations guarantee” in the help and there is an associated form. The form fields are not visible and I cannot get the form to work. How do I submit the claim?

The IRS (and states) often use "calculation error" as a generic term to mean that you made a mistake on your tax return, and when they caught your mistake, they found that you owe more tax with penalties.   Most mistakes made with TurboTax are user errors.

ACCURACY GUARANTEE

TurboTax provides do-it-yourself tax software.  TurboTax guarantees the calculations done by its software.   The information entered into that software is data entered by you, the user.   TurboTax cannot and does not check that information against any outside sources, so TT cannot know if you entered your information completely or correctly.   It is up to you to enter all of your information correctly and completely, and to check your tax return before you file it.  If you forget to enter some income, or enter it incorrectly, enter it in the wrong place, etc. then you may end up owing additional tax to the IRS and/or state.  TurboTax does not pay the additional tax you owe.   If TurboTax’s calculations were incorrect, and you owe penalties and/or interest, then TT will pay the penalties and interest.  The tax due is always owed by you, and must be paid by you.

If you need to enter a claim for the accuracy guarantee:

Like you, I at first could not get the form to appear.  I discovered it had to do with site permissions.  I finally tried turning off my script blocker or ad blocker, which did allow the form to appear.   You can also try a different browser, but if you have a high-security setting in the browser, you may have to reduce the level so that necessary cookies are not blocked.
