Mine was rejected but riddle me this, kids. Why was it supposedly rejected for failing to fill out those address lines but NOT because mine is now a dupe? I filed last night with the IRS proper. If the IRS was actually rejecting my TT filing, it would now be for being a duplicate attempt at our SS#s and not for some lines not filled out. It never got to the IRS. They just bulk “rejected” us and the email looks like they set it up so that it filled in from their database what lines were missing in a form field merge. In any event I’m done. I filed properly yesterday and for free and I’ll just leave the TT be and stick with the IRS’s platform from now on. They let me import everything from a PDF scan so I didn’t even have to refill much info.
The irony is TT et al spent untold amounts trying to lobby against the government being able to offer free filing electronically and are trying to blame the IRS or even us for this but it was them all the while. I’ve been with them for at least 20 years. What a bunch of crap.
How did you resubmit, I am having the same issue but it is not giving me the option to actually go back into my return to correct anything and the customer service rep told me to wait until the 16th because that’s when the IRS would accept an amended return.
I also re-filed.
Took 27 minutes for mine to be accepted as well. State is still pending (but my state, NY, won't process until IRS accepts their return.)
I'd bet state will be accepted before the day ends...
I went back to the "Deductions and Credits" tab, found the residential energy section, and clicked update.
Completely walked through the questions again. Then went to Federal Review to ensure it was happy everywhere else. And re-filed through E-File.
30 minutes later, I'm done and filed for the year.
I has the same issue, today 2/12/24 it came back rejected. There were questions that irs said were not answered, after reviewing, these questions must have been added after the fact. I completed and filed again, it was accepted within 30 min after updating and resubmitting
Well my saga has ended..called TT several times over the last few days including this a.m. and the last call she contacted the “ Engineer “ who said both 1040 and 540 returns had been accepted by the irs and the state.
She was given access to my Mac…only for viewing and I walked her thru the changes/ corrections that had already been made by me to line 21c.
She made me do a update again and the check e-file status still showed pending. She wouldn’t admit it was software or a systemic problem with TT…so she closed by saying that she resolved the problem. I told her she did not…I went to IRS my refund with her and read to her after putting in the required data field info…refund amount ,SS, tax years and filing status…and read to her their findings…there was no record of a return filed….no information…period.
she couldn’t explain the pending status only to repeat what the quote engineer told her.
About a hr later i got a rejection notice for both irs and state from TT Saying it was rejected by irs and state.
since i didn’t believe anything they said 2 days ago I downloaded H&R Block 2023 deluxe package for $25…they also represent u free of charge in case of audit
anyway it was ready to go..after I saw the rejection notice from TT …minutes later I hit the send button on H&R Block e-file return…IRS accepted the return in about 4 minutes..the state was pending 4 about 30 minutes
and accepted it….
bad bad TT going to have to take ur computers and servers away from u
note: my advice to people is to wait for the rejection notice and then refile ..so as not to get a duplication…from IRS..u can keep TT or move on to another tax software company..after 20 years I’m leaving them
OHmy 2
No one needs to worry about getting rejected for a dupe. They never sent anything to the IRS. I was in pending so yesterday I used the site on the IRS website and filed that way. Was accepted in about 20 minutes. Today I got an email from TT saying mine had been rejected but because of the form errors. If the IRS actually got them from TT it would have thrown an error for a dupe. TT sent those emails to make it seem like they were rejected by the IRS but they never got that far. They corralled our returns and then “rejected” them on their end. Had they actually transmitted to the IRS, it would have been thrown back as a dupe. They simply lie. I’ve been with them for 20 years as well. Not anymore.
@Enike 100% agree with you.
the same thing happened to me while I was about to file with h&r. I had the question at the end to confirm our 2022 agi and when I went on turbo to double check I noticed the rejection. I’m like perfect now I can file with h&r in peace. It was accepted a minute later.
I have to believe that it was no "coincidence" that all of a sudden today at around the same time most everyone started getting their "rejections" from TT and the IRS. Obviously something was hanging up on the TT submission end and when they finally "let them go" they finally got rejected and we were then able to fix the TT fault error on the form and successfully resubmit. The "proof" was the fixed resubmission was accepted by the IRS within minutes just as it would have been rejected by the IRS within minutes and not hung in nowhere land for up to 4 days. Been with TTax since the 1990's but maybe it's time to move on.
I absolutely agree! My son was rejected almost immediately after I made my original post. It was corrected and within minutes he was approved. I just read in a previous post that “a group” of people were hacked that filed through TT. It seems this incident happened with a select group with all those filing certain forms at a certain time were all rejected. I agree with you. I have used TT for years and this is not good. I may also look at other software companies in future. I’m thankful it was resolved. My son’s wife is in pharmacy school and she travels to London in May. He is planning to join her and they really need his refund.
What was worse was the poor customer service folks didn't have a clue (due to no fault of their own just lack of transparency by TT). Whatever the reason was, it was NOT an IRS issue and had TT been more transparent about it (Like saying "we are aware there is an issue and are working on it") it would have been much less of an issue.
Trying to get through their horrendous IVR system to a real person was frustrating enough, and then spending 45 minutes on the line trying to explain to them what was happening when they OBVIOUSLY had no clue, was even more frustrating. They just kept pulling explanations out of their, I mean the, AIR. No fault to them when there is no one giving them information. Just a simple "we're aware there is an issue" would have sufficed.
When I called Saturday I had a rep named Ralph. That dude was the most aggressive and condescending person I’ve ever spoken with on any support level. Tried to talk over me constantly and most of it was factually false.
Definitely not a good look.
So everyone’s taxes that are “pending” haven’t actually made it to the IRS? Bc mine have been pending for a good 4 days now. I also have the energy credits on my taxes.
so I should take my taxes else were to file them?
My taxes got rejected after 4 days being pending due to TT error on file 5695. You should wait till they get rejected and refile. I refiled and they were accepted within hours.
