If you did not receive your first and/or second stimulus payment or if the amount received is not correct, you can claim it on your 2020 tax return as the Recovery Rebate Credit.
You'll need to amend your return to include the Recovery Rebate Credit.
To avoid unnecessary delays, do not amend until your original return has been fully processed.
You can e-file your 2020 amended federal tax return, but most states require amendments to be printed and filed by mail.
Allow 16 weeks for processing.
See this TurboTax FAQ for help with amending.
You can check the status of your amended return here, but allow 3 weeks after filing for it to show up.
In TurboTax Online, to claim the Recovery Rebate credit please do the following:
Sign into your account and continue from where you left off
Click on Federal in the left-hand column, then on Federal Review on the top of the screen
On the next page titled Let's make sure you got the right stimulus amount, click on Continue
Follow the interview
TurboTax will determine whether you are entitled to any additional stimulus
Any stimulus amount remaining due to you will show as a credit on line 30 of your form 1040.
The third stimulus should be automatic. This is what is currently known: Third Stimulus
If you got a 1444 B letter that means the IRS did send you the second one and if you try to claim it on your return the IRS will take it off. You probably need to call the IRS and put a trace on it. It might have come as a check or a Direct Deposit or on a card. Those cards would be easy to miss and get thrown out.
