Why is SBTPG holding refunds?

After much research I want to know why SBTPG is holding refunds? This is not ok, and I want to know why Turbo Tax is not doing a thing about it? I will never use Turbo Tax or any other tax preparer that goes through SBTPG again. This is from SBTPG's website
"TPG does not hold your money. When a deposit is received from the IRS, your money is processed as soon as it received and typically issued within 24 hours of receipt. If you selected direct deposit, it may take 1-2 business days to reach your bank account. Your payment is not wired to your account."

So my direct deposit date was February 25 2022 sbtpg said my bank rejected my refund not sure why and that they would mail me a check that was in February I call and call they always say some different date on mailing a check I. Never got a check even though they claimed to mailed it twice to me they had me fill out a indemnity bond form so they can reissue me another one well I did even got it notarized sent it back to them again they said they mail a check but I never got anything after filing couple complaints with better business bureau and FTC even my attorney general I was able to get the email address of the top people at that sbtpg I emailed them everyday finally Jeff called me he overnighted my check a x I’m getting it tomorrow through fed ex anyone.need help getting there checks I can provide you with contact info for these people just had to share that horrible story dealing with sbtpg ridiculous

@Kingkoopa82 Yes! My DD was issued 2/24/22 and literally step by step, my situation is identical too yours. Please send me the email or contact info for whoever can expedite my check as well. I’m beyond frustrated!! I reached out to the FDIC, in which Green Dot Contacted me directly, but went on to say it could take up to 16wks to return to the IRS. I contacted them as it’s been a month so far and they have yet to send it. Initially they were suppose to send it 6/15/22 (In a batch with other taxpayers checks) then a few wks I called to confirm the returning status and they said they still haven’t sent it. They’re A bunch of Liars & Cons! I feel like this was another way to postpone my refund and build interest. And I need my check asap!!

I have the same problem. SBTPG said they sent check and I filled out indemnity form got it notarized and still no check since August 3rd. I will not be filing with turbotax this year. My refund was processed by irs.gov on May 11th, turbo took out their almost 400 in fees and the balance was transferred in to their account. When I call, my refund is still processing - 4 months later. This is fraud.

I have been told that SBTPG sent me my refund to my address but received NO CHECK. I then got the form notarized and still have received NO REFUND CHECK. My refund was sent over to SBTPG on August 3rd. My email is [email address removed]. My refund is suppose to be for $25,305 and I need this money to pay rent or risk being evicted. SBTPG should be Arrested and all its employees face criminal charges as well as Turbo Tax for Fraud and Theft. I am going to have the money sent back to the IRS since I have received NO REFUND. A check never received is a check that was never sent. SBTPG is stealing our money. **bleep** Y*u Turbo Tax and SBTPG you are all crooks and need to be dealt with.

Count Me In! They all need too be SHUT DOWN. The NERVE of them. And these financial agencies overseeing them is becoming questionable as well. All of our funds should be expedited, expeditiously. Why the HELL should we have to suffer and wait until they’re ready to send OUR money. I’m pissed!! 🤬

This might be the most annoying and frustrating process that I have ever been in. I've been calling everywhere just to speak to a SBTPG representative to no one. IRS is telling me that my refund was sent 2 days ago to SBTPG and unfortunately when I look up it up it's saying nothing is owed to me which is not true. This is making me very uneasy and I am unfortunately going to have to call a lawyer because this is unacceptable. I can't speak with anyone about my refund but SBTPG has it and is making it seem like we get it right away which clearly isn't true. This whole process is pissing me off.

I do not have a number. I get the same recording almost 5 months later; check will be posted in 2 days, etc. I reported them to IRS and they have promised to look into situation and put a trace on check. It will be 120 days wait but it's a move in the right direction. I would suggest everyone reporting to IRS because they did their part; they sent funds to this bank.

Your tax refund was not sent to TurboTax. TurboTax does not handle your refund at all.

Santa Barbara Tax Products Group, LLC (SBTPG) is the bank that handles the Refund Processing Service when you choose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your refund. This option also has an additional charge from the bank that processes the transaction.

I received a letter from the IRS in April 2022 saying they owed me money from an amended 2020 return. It was sent to SBTPG because I had my fees taken out that year. Obviously the account was closed. I called and SBTPG confirmed they had the money and it was in the process of being returned to the IRS. This was still in April. The IRS put a trace on the funds as well. I received a letter today Nov 28th 2022 from the IRS saying the trace was finished and that the money was deposited into the account at SBTPG and the response they received from SBTPG which they said that they deposited the money to me! Which is a lie! They are still holding my money and lying about it! I don't know what else to do!

@Sassycassie58 suggest contacting SPTG - ask for the date of the ACH transfer from their bank to yours for direct deposit*. if they were able to provide it to the IRS, they can provide it to you; then check your bank account records to confirm receipt....start there.

if they say they sent a check that was cashed, ask for a copy of the cancelled check .

Sbtpg is holding my refund as well it was supposed to be sent back to irs October 21 told me it would take 10weeks they closed my account now I can’t contact them to see what’s going on with my refund the irs still not updated saying anything about my refund being returned only that it was sent august 24th for direct deposit I went to check the status like I normally do on sbtpg but my info was not working but I checked it back December now all of a sudden the account is gone but the irs doesn't have my money back they our holding people refunds so the can collect interest off people money this is not cool they took there fees and won’t give me my money knowing the irs has there own time frame to mail the check

I've been waiting since April 2022 for them to return my funds to the IRS. The irs still hasn't received anything from them. I'm at a loss at this point

@Sassycassie58 **bleep** shame these ppl are still allowed to play with folks hard earned money. As I stated prior you’d need to reach out to the federal reserve and have them intervene. I had to as I have waited **bleep** near a whole new tax season for my money. It was finally returned to the IRS (As they see it in their system) and I should be receiving it the end of this month. If you don’t take legal action or reach out to hierarchy they’ll continue to hold/build interest on those funds until you give up!!! Ignore them stating “It was returned”, if they don’t have hierarchy over their heads, you’ll continue to reach a dead end. Thank God I only sent one indemnity bond form and fought for what’s rightfully mines!!! Take those steps and don’t waste your time calling or waiting on these folks alone. Good luck!!

This will be my last year doing this wth turbo tax we obviously need these funds and the fact that they are being held by this bank and I am paying 167 bucks for doing my taxes and from what I am seeing you are not earning that paycheck. We want our money the same day not when they decide to release them this is ridiculous

@Sassycassie58 @leannm38 Go through the federal reserve and have them open an investigation. I dealt with the same thing starting all the way back to 2/24/22. From that date up until July, I allowed them to swindle me. I reached out to hierarchy and my refund was returned to the IRS 10/22. The IRS held it do to me having them trace the check, and my funds were literally release Valentine’s Day. I received my check after a full year in the mail “today”. Thank you Jesus!!! Don’t give up. If you allow them to tell you they’re returning it w/out reaching out to hierarchy, you’ll never receive it. Good luck!
