Why am I unable to print the tax forms from my iMac this year? I've used Turbo Tax for several years with no problem. When will this be corrected?

Fix your software.  Printing does not work, any combination of formsets, individual forms, state (Calif)/fed, etc etc etc.

It's been broken since Dec at least (Advantage subscriber), but it's getting too close to filing deadline to be screwing-around with your customers like this.

Are you using a Mac?    If so, have you tried the detailed workaround provided by user @maukro earlier in this thread.  You may have to scroll way up on a previous page of this thread.

Thank you Katina!  That worked!  Why is Turbo Tax not fixing this?????  It is definitely an issue with the desk top software on a Mac.  I've been using the same software for years on my Mac and I have never had this problem before.

@CatinaT1

If you’re going to provide another person’s solution in multiple posts, the same solution I’ve posted in multiple places across the Community board, it would be polite to less lazily and more clearly credit the user who actually provided the solution. Please refrain from copying and pasting my posts in the future.

Maukro - @CatinaT1 did credit you - see the top of @Catina's post.  My bad for not mentioning you too.  Thank you for discovering the work around.

The real issue is the fact that Turbo Tax has done nothing to fix this.  I will be using another software next year for sure!

Incann,

Hi. I agree with you that the real issue is that intuit TurboTax has a big known problem here and has done nothing to fix it for the multitudes of customers who put their trust in Intuit’s product.

I also think the primary goal is to get help to everybody who’s struggling with the issue … which is why I’m still posting the solution in multiple places, to assist others.

It’s also why I didn’t address my annoyance with @CatinaT1 the first several times I saw her posts. My eye has been on the main goal. CatinaT1 could have ‘expertly’ linked people to my posts rather than copying and pasting my posts in several places with a vague mention of my name, followed by her “thank me here” prompt. I see it as impolite.

Thank you for speaking up, though. Open dialogue is good!

I don’t know if this is directed to me or not but I didn’t do any copy-paste in my comments.  They are all original and I did give credit to the original posting of the solution.  Although I did discover this on my own.  Lighten up and direct your frustration to the real cause that being Intuit.

@richardjacobson65178

Here's what you posted to me, this morning (I quote):

"I don’t know if this is directed to me or not but I didn’t do any copy-paste in my comments.  They are all original and I did give credit to the original posting of the solution.  Although I did discover this on my own.  Lighten up and direct your frustration to the real cause that being Intuit."

If you will kindly refer to my post, you will see that I very clearly directed my comments to @CatinaT1 , not to you. I hadn't even noticed your name before and in neither of your posts have you copied and pasted my work.

On the other hand, "Expert" CatinaT1 has copied and pasted, then posted, my work in several places on the Community board, and she has done so with only a vague reference to the fact that she was merely copying and pasting somebody else's work. She followed her post with a request for accolades, which she got -- 23 of them on this thread alone. It would have been more polite to link my work in her post, as others have more appropriately done in various places on this board.

As for your suggestion that I lighten up ... I have watched @CatinaT1 post a copy and paste of my work in several places on this Community board for a month now, without a word from me. (She's posted other people's work, too, I've noticed, in response to this print problem, but those posts didn't grow legs. My workaround grew legs for her because it does seem to work for most.)

Meanwhile, I've posted my own work probably about a dozen times, maybe more, since late January, and have personally replied to many people on this topic, with the sole purpose of helping others print their documents. I've received few accolades (probably about 0-2 "Cheers" for each time I've posted this same exact solution, to CatinaT1's 23 "Cheers," on this one thread alone, for copying and pasting my work). My main objective wasn't to receive praise -- it was to help people out. So, I've kept mum about it for a month.

But as I've noticed that the word is out about " @CatinaT1's " workaround -- "her" solution -- her genius -- well, put yourself in my shoes. It gets to a person. After a month of observing it, I spoke up.

And here you are, after one post from me that I very clearly directed to @CatinaT1 -- jumping right on me as though I was addressing YOU for some strange reason. Perhaps you could take your own advice, @richardjacobson65178  , and lighten up. (Have you, btw, done anything to forward any solution to the problem or help anybody else here on this Community board?)

As for @lncann 's calmly and kindly stated point that @CatinaT1 _did_ credit me ... well, she mentioned me in a vague and weird way. She also asked for accolades for herself each time she posted my work without any clear credit to another user (me). I guess I can see why a third party (as @lncann did above) might consider her weird mention of my name credit enough. I purposefully did not respond for more than a month to what I viewed as improper online etiquette because I, too, wanted to consider it credit enough. But as I read more and more about "her" workaround, with no correction from her, I grew irritated. Many in my shoes would.

Why am I unable to print the tax forms from my iMac this year? I've used Turbo Tax for several years with no problem. When will this be corrected?

Here is a sampling of comments directed to CatinaT1  from this thread alone that clearly demonstrate my point -- that is, that Expert CatinaT1 did not clearly credit anybody else's work. She copied and pasted other people's work, and she took the credit for herself. Genius? -- yes, perhaps, in that lazily copying and pasting another's work earns her status and respect on the Community board. But it's also Disingenuous. If there's one trait I most admire in a person, it's authenticity. What she's done is inauthentic.

[I have zero animosity towards any of the following people for their very kind comments to the person they thought rescued them from TurboTax printing hell. I would have done the same -- thanked the person who posted the solution! They were ALL kind to take the time to say thanks and I don't blame them a bit! But meanwhile, I was posting the same solution in multiple threads and would have eventually gotten around to this thread as well, and CatinaT1  knew that -- she was copying and pasting my work from those numerous posts!]

@PlayfulParent

"Thank you, Catina!!   Saved me even more aggravation than I had already encountered.   Your solution is perfect."

@MamaJunie

"THIS WORKED LIKE A CHARM!!! Thank you for figuring it out!! I have been SO frustrated and TurboTax offered

no solutions. WOW!! You are a genius!!"

@wreid01

"I certainly appreciate all you did and tried for this workaround."

@ES729

"Appreciate You, Catina! You are Genius!"

[and later]

"Unfortunately Catina's solution was the only one that worked from me even after this morning's (2/20's) software update."

@MikeL

"Catina's lengthy workaround finally worked for me today after failing numerous times to print or save to PDF of  my Massachusetts state return."

@KayeL150

"Thank you so much for posting these print/save instructions!"

@codell777

"All I can say is Thank You! Truly appreciated your guidance as I was able to successfully download and print the returns and documents I needed. Hopefully, TurboTax gets a fix in place soon."

@1monimc

"I am so grateful for your assistance to open and print my forms."

@anitaterling

"Thank you for writing out how to print on a Mac.  I was going crazy trying everything and nothing was working, so I printed out your step by step instructions and bingo, it worked.  Thanks again you are my hero."

@lncann

"Thank you Katina!  That worked!"

I hope I have made my point.

Sorry mauro for not making it clear that my comments were not directed to you but to @CatinaT1.  That being said I think your rant to me was a little over the top.  Have a great day.

That's ridiculous @richardjacobson65178 . Your comments were clearly made to me. CatinaT1 hasn't spoken up since she posted on page 2 of this thread. Backpedal.

I have the same issue.  My Mac is up to date.  I can print with everything else and can turn everything else into PDFs except for everything to do with TurboTax.  This is the first year I am using the online version, having used CD versions of TurboTax with a Mac for 20 years.

If I click on any of the print buttons in the app or on the top tab drop down menu I get the spinning ball and a "please wait...." message that then simply disappears.

It is absolutely not acceptable that TurboTax has known about this problem for at least a month or more and has not resolved it.  Intuit should be fined by the IRS!

I am taking screenshots of the key pages as a solution and am hoping that I can return to the app in the near future to obtain a full PDF of all forms and worksheets.

Did you ever resolve the issue? Exact same problem here, except I can't even save as a PDF and only in the program.

TurboTax has not resolved the issue as far as I know nor have they even admitted they have a problem. After multiple failed attempts using the CatinaT1/Maukro workaround it finally just worked for me one day.  Based on the symptoms I suspect it is a memory usage issue and I finally just got lucky. Some people get lucky on their first try and probably think those of us still struggling are doing something wrong. In any case let's not allow our frustrations to cause us to turn on each other.  Save your fire for TurboTax.

Best of luck to those still struggling.  My sincerest sympathies.
