Catina's lengthy workaround finally worked for me today after failing numerous times to print or save to PDF of my Massachusetts state return. Over the last week I tried all of the other suggestions above as well with no joy. For the first time in the last week TurboTax today notified upon launch that updates were being applied. Did one of those updates allow this workaround to finally work? Or did memory and other local circumstances align this time to allow it to work? I have no way of knowing. Also, if a fix was indeed supplied with these latest updates will that fix now allow it to work just straight forward without even the need to use Catina's workaround? I don't know and I'm not gonna waste any more time on it.
Those of you who still haven't been able to get Catina's Preview workaround to work I suggest you try it again now. If one of you wants to try just saving/printing in the straightforward way as well be my guest. Thanks all. Good luck!
Hi Mike,
Unfortunately Catina's solution was the only one that worked from me even after this morning's (2/20's) software update. My system is IOS or an iMac latest software release.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for this...it worked...but shouldn't have to jump through these hoops to print the return....
Thank you so much for posting these print/save instructions! It's so disturbing that printing and saving returns before and after e filing is so convoluted. I'm still trying to save pdf to usb. I guess that's another unnecessary step.
All I can say is Thank You! Truly appreciated your guidance as I was able to successfully download and print the returns and documents I needed. Hopefully, TurboTax gets a fix in place soon.
I appreciate that there are "work arounds" allowing us to eventually print our returns or forms.
However, how about this as a novel idea? How about TurboTax FIXING the print function so that simply hitting the print link actually prints?
It is ridiculous....
I am so grateful for your assistance to open and print my forms. I am a Mac user. Seems too many things don't work well for my Apple products but this seemed to be Intuit TT issue. 3 hrs of frustration! So happy it's done but now I worry if the software has an issue, as in the software processing. I have used for 20 years and this was absolutely horrible! Thanks again for your help.
Thank you for writing out how to print on a Mac. I was going crazy trying everything and nothing was working, so I printed out your step by step instructions and bingo, it worked. Thanks again you are my hero.
I saw a reply that says: go to file, click on save as pdf. It worked for me right away
I saw a thread that suggested you go to “file” in the upper left corner with your tax return open; click on save as pdf. It worked for me right away
This worked for my Mac though with the qualification that you have to stay on the tax return option. Changing to selected forms fails as before. You can get forms by printing everything and choosing selected pages.
I did basically the same thing and it worked. However, that shouldn't be necessary with a product that's been around for many years. It wasn't when I used the Windows program for over 20 years. I should be able to print from the prescribed menu and I should also be able to select many different options from the print menu as I could with the Windows version.
I hope that Intuit will fix the many problems that exist with the Mac version so Mac users can benefit from the many years of development that went into the Windows version. I might also add that I have experienced similar problems with the Mac Quicken program.
I hope that Intuit takes notice!
This work-around works, I used it, that's the good news. The bad news is that I spent several hours on the phone over the course of this past Monday and Tuesday (3/3-3/4/25) and the customer service reps had no idea about this problem or this work-around. Furthermore this seems to be a known problem in the user community and based on posts here, should be a known problem to Intuit. Why hasn't this been handled better? I use a Mac running MacOS Ventura 13.74, the most current software. I could neither print nor convert the file to a pdf. After using this work-around I managed to do both, but have spent a ton of time on it. I downloaded my desktop version of Turbotax Premium though a deal with Fidelity Investments, a major US brokerage/financial firm. The download went through Intuit's web site. I asked for a replacement application, was told no, b/c I got it thru Fidelity, not Intuit. My understanding is there are no more disks, just electronic downloads. So if I bought my download from a retailer like Best But or Sam's Club, would you not stand behind it as per the answer regarding my Fidelity/Intuit download? This all seems very poor and disappointing. I've been a Turbotax user for many years, most recently buying it to do my daughter Christina's taxes. Will likely look elsewhere next year for a tax program.
All detailed issues you describe also happening to us (6th March TT H&B update)
This has been a problem since December. You would think that printing a tax return would be considered important enough to actually test at Intuit.
Maybe some day Intuit will create a bug-reporting system.
