After the tax return has been Accepted by the IRS (meaning only that they received the return) it will be in the Processing mode until the tax refund has been Approved and then an Issue Date will be available on the IRS website.
See this IRS website for federal tax refund FAQ's - https://www.irs.gov/refunds/tax-season-refund-frequently-asked-questions
If over 21 days since being Accepted by the IRS and the tax refund is still Processing you can call the IRS and speak with an IRS agent concerning your tax refund.
Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.
Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
Then press 4 for all other inquiries
It should then transfer you to an agent.
Or you can contact your local IRS office. See this IRS website for local IRS offices - http://www.irs.gov/uac/Contact-Your-Local-IRS-Office-1 or call 1-844-545-5640 to set up an appointment
Or you may want to contact a Taxpayer Advocate in your area. See this IRS website for Taxpayer Advocate in your area and a toll free number - http://www.irs.gov/Advocate/Local-Taxpayer-Advocate
@Sneeky15 same here, I filled February and not a penny, neither stimulus, not sure if I can get anything by the end of this year, and its almost time to filled for 2020
My return was accepted February everything was submitted I have spoke to the IRS who always tells me 6 more weeks I even spoke with the IRS consultant who told me the same thing so to be honest with you I wouldn't expect to see it for quite a long time sorry
I filed in feb as well. I made a mistake on federal with holdings slot. Instead of a 4 I put a 7 which is just above the number 4 on numeric section of keyboard. I explained this about 100x this year to irs. Well they said I had to prove my identity. which we did. Then they said we had to wait 60 days. that turned into 120 days. Then they said we need to prove we have kids an our earnings. had to photocopy all our returns an kids birth certificates schools loan info ect. Then last month they said they mailed letters to us. which they didnt eplaining we were being audited at random.(happens every year) So we sent the amended form, identity crap an all paperwork last month. They said itll take 3 weeks to process our return an another 16 weeks to send refund. So we may get a refund when we file for 2020. I wish we could sue them for neglect or something. First off J dont like the idea of my personal info on some random employees wifi network. second every person I spoke to said something different so not one of their employees knows what they are doing. Im so sick of the irs. they are not even part of our gov.
Have you tried the Tax Advocate?
Get in touch with a tax advocate, that is my best advive because like you I filed on the same month, but at the same time being as though they are a seperate department from the irs they can provide accurate informatio, the 411 of what is going on with the refund.
Working with one presently because I honestly aint got the patiebce since been waiting ovet 8 months now. If she does her job right, Im going to give her a shout out, just like the mailmen and women just recently.
I am sorry for your trouble too! This is awful!! There are people who are still waiting or like me, half paid. How do you half do something? I can't even make my bills this month and their over there messing around! They need to hire more people and not take a day off till they get everyone paid. I called a tax advocate and she listened then sent me to a regular agent again! What a crock!! They don't care! Good luck to you.. I'm going to call Friday with my tax person that helped file the amended return.
I filed Jan. 31 2019. Transposed some numbers, so a review was being done. They then came back and said that they had it on file that I was married. I divorced in 2012. Had to send proof of head of household, proof that I could claim my children, and now received a letter stating that they received my documents and please give them til January 2, 2020 to respond. This is ridiculous.
I have a question, did they give you a stimulus payment because I feel as if, if they had already given you a stimulus in my opinion (the correct amount) then they knew what was up.
Sign yourself up for a tax advocate, if you have so you be able to know what is already going because I honestly cannot blame TurboTax because the IRS felt they wanted to pay individuals that they wanted to pay.
If I was you, if you could get that tax advocate ID number report her unprofessionalism
How do you know I have an advocate? You are just spurting Bull
I did send my insurance information in July and it said i will get it in 6 to 8 weeks. Well here we are in November and i still haven't received my refund. I filed February 9th.
