sgperkins,
Thanks for spending the 2 hours on the phone last week trying to get this fixed. I’m sorry that it didn’t work out.
We may be wired alike. It’s something I felt compelled to do, too … but resisted. The employees who answer the phones for those kinds of calls so often don’t have the power, control, or authority to fix things like that, and (sadly) they are often apathetic about fixing things, too.
I was employed for decades by a huge company with a very cumbersome HR/Benefits department. During the last decade of my time there, “Team Members” relied on emails and online forms only. Employees in this huge company were not permitted to speak on the phone to employees in the HR/Benefits department when encountering any type of problem (payroll or 401k or annual benefits enrollment, etc). All outgoing emails were signed with only “Team Member,” such that the employee with the problem had no idea who they were “talking” to. Continuity in problem solving was non-existent, as different Team Members got involved in the mix but did not know the accurate history of the problem or its solution so far. And employees in HR/Benefits seemed to have no individual accountability, given that those they were serving (or not serving) knew each of them only as Team Member!
Upon receiving an email or online form from an employee with a problem, the gatekeeper would assign a case number, the problem to somebody in the HR department, … and then immediately close the case.
Case Closed simply meant that the gatekeeper had assigned the problem to somebody!
There was little follow through on anything. And when the employee contacted the department later on, to follow up on their unresolved case, the answer was nearly always, “That case was closed. We thought it was resolved.”
Your post resonated with me. Sadly, It seems like a lot of companies work this way now.
The PDF worked system for me. Both the fed and state were included, and I'm able to print as many pages as I like in the normal way. I still have everything filed in the 2023 folder, since "fixing" that seems to break everything further, but I can move the files later. Hope they get their act together soon, or I will also be thinking about H&R Block next year!
That’s so great, Vicki Body. Sounds like they’ve finally made a few tweaks for the better … and have a few more to go …
Same problem but solved by moving from macOS 13 to macOS 15. The intuit website says turbotax 2024 is compatible with macOS 13 but it appears that the printing function is not compatible.
Interesting, Olofmc.
I'm macOS 14.7.3 -- Sonoma. I've been putting off upgrading to Sequoia.
TurboTax is supposedly compatible with macOS Sonoma 14 as well. But I did encounter a few weird problems this year. So maybe it's not fully compatible with macOS 14, either!
Thanks for posting.
I had the same issue and I kept checking day after day to see I there was an update. I still get the "boop" and nothing happens when I try to save or print.
But I found a workaround and wanted to share to see if it'll work for you.
File -> Preview -> chose your fed/state. This loaded for me as a pdf preview. Then, hover over the bottom center and you'll get the 4 buttons - magnify +/- options, open in adobe, or save/download.
The save/download button did nothing but when I clicked the third icon to open in adobe...it opened! Then from Adobe Acrobat I can click "save as" and finally save it as a pdf.
Yep, danzers136. Your workaround sounds like the same workaround I discovered last week and posted on page 2 of this same thread.
This week, some people are having some luck with the "Save to PDF" option (from the dropdown File menu). Last week, that option did not work for me. It was grayed out. But it works for me today.
It sounds like the "Save to PDF" option from the dropdown File menu didn't work for you, either.
Our results are all so varied!
I tried the “save to pdf” option. But I also got the “boop” sound and it wouldn’t work.
I am having the same problem which also affects the Print Required Forms which I NEED to file by mail. TurboTax we need this fixed ASAP!
If you can go to macOS 15 sequoia, that can solve this problem.
Tried to save to PDF and it shows me a list of forms, but no button to save.
It does say that "Your Missouri Return is currently unavailable to view, print, or download because some of the forms haven't been finalized". Okay, but why couldn't I save and print my Federal Return?
(It also had an option for me to be notified when the Missouri forms were ready, but that didn't work either)
chilidogbob,
Have you tried the long, detailed workaround that I posted on page 2 of this thread. I think it has been working for everybody so far. It's a long about way to get what you want ... and it's a shame we have to resort to it ... but you should be able to save and print at least your federal return by using that method.
Good luck!

Yes that is how I printed just a copy of my records, but the forms that I need to print and send to the IRS are not included in this list. So the Print and Mail button does the same as the other one. Thank you for your advice!
As I may note on my Mac I have both TurboTax 2023 and 2024. And when I open TurboTax 2023 the print function works just fine.
I will try this out thank you for the tip!
I have the same problem, cannot print my return nor even save as PDF on my Windows 10 Laptop. I found a time consuming but effective work around by going to the View tab in the upper left of my screen, selecting Forms, selecting a single form, then printing it off via the Print button at the bottom of the window showing the form. I was able to print off forms that way though it took 7 mouse clicks per form.
