So my check was rejected by green dot on July 13th how long will it take for the irs to send me a paper check ?
Good luck. My previous bank (for my 2020 returns) returned my refund Feb 25, 2022 because I was no longer banking with them. I have the trace number from them and the IRS hasn’t received it. They told me it probably went to Sana Barbra Group judging by the trace number. I’ve tried to contact SBG about 40 times via phone, email and snail mail. I’ve yet to hear anything back. & this is from 2020’s returns.
If you used the third party processing bank and they tried to make the deposit then the funds did get returned to them and not the IRS. They should have issued a check mailed to the address on the return ... so did you also move? All you can do is keep trying to reach them to see why the funds were not dispursed.
How long did it take for you to get yours I have been waiting since February this year when all that happened to me as well. I called last three months ago and they said " oh we don't even have that option yet" like wtf..
I'm sorry to hear that I have the same issue for 2021 returns they were supposed to send it back to IRS since March this year. I still haven't received a dime...
How long did it take to mail refund? I’m literally having the same problem
Man that ish took forever stg no exaggeration at all u have to go online to Santa fae bank or however it’s spelled and it will tell you how long once they get ur check from irs
Hello I waited 7 months for my bank (Santa Barbara bank) to finally send my refund back after it was rejected I put my wrong account info down does anyone know how long it takes for the IRS to receive the funds back going on end of second week now,
So after 7 months of Santa Barbra having my rejected return they finally just send me an email saying it had been returned to the IRS. After several hours and multiple phone calls to the IRS they sent it to the recovery department and said it could take 30 days. Fingers crossed, this whole situation was a nightmare and will NEVER use Turbo Tax again in my life.
You do not have to use TurboTax ever again if you do not want to. But you need to be aware that no matter what tax software program you choose to use in the future ---- when you choose to have the fees deducted from your federal refund there will always be a fee for that choice, and there will always be a stipulation that you have to pay your fees within an allotted amount of time whether your refund arrives or not. So avoid that situation. Pay your software fees upfront.
And... be very careful about entering the banking information for your refund next time. Entering information for a wrong or closed account will always lead to delays in receiving your refund.
And next time---see if you qualify to use any of the free filing services offered on the IRS site:
https://apps.irs.gov/app/freeFile/
Is there a way to update bank information to have my refund deposited?
Did you already e-file? If you did NOT e-file you can go to the FILE section and change how you want to receive your refund. If you want direct deposit you need the routing number and your own account number.
You cannot change banking information while your return is in pending, nor can you change it after the return is accepted. The IRS does not allow it.
If you e-filed:
Banking information for direct deposit is wrong or closed
If you entered incorrect banking information for your refund, you can change it if your return is rejected. If it is accepted, however, it is too late to change it. The bank will reject the refund and send it back to the IRS. Then the IRS will issue a paper check and mail it to the address you put on your tax return. Expect a delay of at least a couple of weeks to receive your refund.
Here is what the IRS says about entering incorrect banking information
I'm wondering the same thing
You can track the status of your refund on our tracking page here. The IRS will let you know when they mail the paper check, and you are asked to wait up to 28 days before you report a lost check. For more details, please see the IRS Refund FAQ here.
this happened to me about 7 years ago. Me and my husband filed our taxes together for the first time and my back rejected the refund because it has both of our names on the check. This was Feb 14th. I spent the several MONTHS calling the IRS and getting no where. Once they were able to verify who we were 9which they had already tried to deposit the check already) it was going to be mailed. The check we were waiting on was over 8K dollars and we had to be out of our apartment and into our new one APril 1st and we needed that money to move. Well April 1st came and we had to go. NOW we had to change our address with the IRS. The post office does not forward IRS checks. i literally had given up. One day i was getting off work in the middle of June the mailman pulled up to me in the parking lot- he was our old mailman from the previous apartments. He had my check!!! He said that he knew if he sent it back that it would have taken months for me to get it. He was unaware that that shipped had already sailed because we had been waiting over 4 months already. So DOUBLE CHECK FOR YOUR BANKING INFORMATION. IF ITS A JOINT CHECK ITS GOT TO BE A JOINT CHECKING ACCOUNT. I LEARNED MY LESSON and if it wasnt for that mailman i dont know if i would have ever seen any of that money- that was already approved, sent and mine because once its returned you are screwed.
Good luck!
