Tax Payment

I filed through eFile with my payment to my taxes. I received an email from TurboTax that it was succesfully filed,  received and accepted by IRS (i.e. via two separate emails). My tax payment was supposedly debited from my checking account on April 9th. To date IRS has not debited my checking account for my payment. I am somewhat concerned because April 15th is around the corner. Any thoughts please. Thanks.

Curious if this issue has been resolved? I scheduled my payment to be taken out on 4/15 but it has not been withdrawn from my account.

Nope.

My federal and state were filed the same day. March 15. Two days later the federal payment was deducted but still haven't seen the state deducted from my account.

Same issue here.    It is almost 10 days will wait a couple more days.   Who do you call for a status and what do we so if it prolongs getting pulled out of our accounts?

Did anyone get a response from Turbotax that is better than wait 10 days and the extension communications which I can get from the news?

Once the IRS has your debit info then TT has done its job by delivering the information and now it is up to the IRS/State to complete the transaction  and TT gets no further information on the situation.

If you selected Direct Debit from your bank account to pay the Federal taxes owed, that information was sent with your e-filed federal tax return.

Look at the Federal Information Worksheet in Part V.  The bank name, routing number, account number and the date you selected to pay the taxes owed will be entered.  If you did not select Direct Debit from your bank account then nothing will be in Part V.  Look on your Federal Filing Instruction page for how you selected to pay the Federal taxes owed.

To access your current or prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the userID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

When you sign onto your online account and land on the Tax Home web page, scroll down and click on Add a state.

This will take you back to the 2020 online tax return.

Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen.  Then click on Print Center.  Then click on Print, save or preview this year's return.  Choose the option Include government and TurboTax worksheets

For the State taxes owed the same type of information will be on the State Information Worksheet in Part V of the worksheet and on the State Filing Instructions page.

However most states, if not all, do not allow state taxes owed to be paid by Direct Debit when using tax preparation software.  They require the payment by Direct Debit only when using the State tax authorities website.

NOW IF EVERYTHING IS CORRECT :  be patient as the IRS is way behind in processing balance due returns so write the amount off in your account and one day it will be gone.  The debit could take months like they did last year so just be patient ... the ball is in the IRS court now.

BUT IF THE DEBIT INFO IS INCORRECT OR MISSING :  you have until 5/17 to make the payment either by mailing in a check or paying directly online as www.IRS.gov/payments ... if you owe the state see your state's website for payment options.

Same situation for me.  I filed on April 3, 2021 and my federal taxes were accepted that day with payment to be made on April 5, 2021.  It has been over 10 days and the money is still in my bank account.  It looks like this is a common issue with many people here. Has TurboTax responded to anyone, yet? I clicked on TurboTax "Support Contact Us" link and received a phone # and support ID, called and only received an automated menu that didn't allow any connection to talk to a live person. This is frustrating as I've used TurboTax for over 10 years and never had an issue, but thought they would be responsive, which they are not! I tried calling the IRS directly, but couldn't stay on hold for the wait time they quoted.

I am having the same problem.  I filed and paid federal taxes on April 7,2021.   Got the confirmation from Turbotax on April 8 that my federal and state tax returns had been accepted.  The state has deducted their payment from my bank account but the federal has not.   On my account on the IRS website, it does not show the tax return nor the amount owed/paid for 2020.   TurboTax needs to address what we all need to do to make sure our returns and payments are going to get to the IRS!!!

@erat

TT cannot do anything even if they wanted to ... all you can do is WAIT until the IRS finally gets around to doing the debit.  Write that amount out of your account and one day the debit will happen.

TurboTax CAN do something. They can provide information on the process. They can provide that information when they offer to take our bank account information AND when they send a message stating that the IRA accepted the return.

I also e-filed my Federal and State returns in April ... and I owed both.

The requested payment date for both was 4/14/2021...   the State of Ohio withdrew their amount due on 4/14/2021.  The Federal amount due has not been withdrawn yet (as of 4/20/2021).

I see many others are having the same problem ... can someone from Turbo Tax please provide respond an official response.

I am also in this situation.  Filed 4/5 with confirmed acceptance.  Withdraw date of 4/13.  As of today, 4/20, no payment has been taken by the IRS.

Having same problem. Taxes owed where supposed to be debited on 4/12 and still haven't been taken out. In past has always been with 24 to 48 hours. I am on hold with them now to try and get answers. Maybe they just don't need our money any more...

I am starting to think that this is a Turbo Tax problem I have spoke to people who have paid their taxes via other means and the IRS debited their bank accounts on the exact dates specified.

As I posted above, same issue.  However, 15 days after my requested withdrawal date, the funds have finally been withdrawn.  So maybe the 7-10 days is now 14-21 days.  Annoying, but resolved over time.

Extremely frustrating! Completed taxes on April 16, 2021 with both fed. and state taxes owed coming out on April 16, 2021. Having reviewed all the previous posts, it sounds like waiting the 10 days to inquire further is the thing to do. With all these problems on this blog, definitely a TurboTax software issue in my opinion. Depending on how all this turns out will depend on what software I will use next year.

I agree that it is very frustrating.
We finally know now that it is an IRS problem:

TurboTax needs to give its customers a "heads up" which they have finally done. See this post:

@Livingtwo

Check the filing instruction pages for the exact payment situation you signed up for and what needed to be done extra if needed ... the program not only posted the information when you made the choice in the FILE tab part 2 but also includes it in the PDF file.
