I received an email from Turbotax 5 days ago saying my e-File had been rejected, but when I go into the (downloaded) Turbotax software, it says the status is still "Pending", so it won't let me make any changes (eg change my AGI to "0") and re-file.
Is it "stuck" in some sense? What do I need to do in order to be able to attempt to re-E-file?
Thanks for any help!
Hi tax experts: I filed yesterday and as of now the status has not changed to accepted. I owed federal taxes, so I entered my bank info for payment before I submitted. Do you know if this payment information is sent to IRS even though the e-file is pending? I am afraid IRS won't know I paid before the deadline. What happens if I separately went to IRS website and made the payment? Will IRS know not to pull the again whenever the efile is accepted?

Pending means the tax return is waiting to be pulled from the server by the IRS.
Your tax return was timely filed and the payment information is included in the federal tax return that was e-filed.
You do not need to pay the federal taxes owed on the IRS website.
DoninGA is CORRECT. DO NOT pay again on the IRS site.
But what if it was sent? They sent it to my state Sunday night....Tuesday afternoon it still says pending? Could that be it was the last day of the deadline? I just want to be sure there's no issue I did the best I can. As I always do in life and I'd like to be sure there's no problems. Then I wake up to a Max benefits email...So idk if that's weird timing or there's an issue.
Will my return be priced without paying the 30$ fee? I was told online it was free and my refund is 1,800 and a card will be mailed to 803c cass st Corinth.ms38834
I filed a family member's federal and Massachusetts returns in early March and they also are still pending on May 28. We need a update from TurboTax at the top of this thread explaining the problem.

Go to this IRS website for operational status - https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-operations-during-covid-19-mission-critical-functions-continue
As of May 15, 2021, we had 300,000 individual tax returns received prior to 2021 in the processing pipeline. Including current year returns, as of May 15, 2021, we had 16.4 million unprocessed individual returns in the pipeline. Unprocessed returns include those requiring correction to the Recovery Rebate Credit amount or validation of 2019 income used to figure the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC). This work does not require us to correspond with taxpayers but does require special handling by an IRS employee so, in these instances, it is taking the IRS more than 21 days to issue any related refund. If, as a result, a correction is made to any RRC, EITC or ACTC claimed on the return, the IRS will send taxpayers an explanation. Taxpayers are encouraged to continue to check Where’s My Refund? for their personalized refund status and can review Tax Season Refund Frequently Asked Questions.
If accepted by the IRS use the federal tax refund website to check the refund status - https://www.irs.gov/refunds
If accepted by the state use this TurboTax support FAQ to check the state tax refund status - https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1899433-how-do-i-track-my-state-refund
After the tax return has been Accepted by the IRS (meaning only that they received the return) it will be in the Processing mode until the tax refund has been Approved and then an Issue Date will be available on the IRS website.
See this IRS website for federal tax refund FAQ's - https://www.irs.gov/refunds/tax-season-refund-frequently-asked-questions
If over 21 days since being Accepted by the IRS and the tax refund is still Processing you can call the IRS and speak with an IRS agent concerning your tax refund.
Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.
Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
Then press 4 for all other inquiries
It should then transfer you to an agent.
Yes the issue pertains to me
finished filling out tax forms and thought I e-filed. felt liked I should have received an email showing my my status as not filed! been satisfied with Turbo Tax for years, felt like I was let down!!
Did you go all the way through the File tab, through the 3 steps and hit the big orange Transmit Returns Now button?
You can check your efile status here
https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/
When you efile you get back 2 emails. The first email only confirms the transmission. The second email says if the IRS (or state) Accepted or Rejected your efile.
When you log into your account you should also see the status and if it was Accepted or Rejected, Started, Printed, Ready to Mail, etc. What does it say?
My taxes were accepted after filing back in April. I've received my state return, but my federal has not been issued. I've been trying to figure out what the hold up is. I've not received any notices from the IRS indicating why the status is still pending nearly 4 months later.

The IRS is seriously behind in processing 2020 tax returns. This is due to many factors, such as the pandemic, completing processing of millions of 2019 tax returns, stimulus payments, unemployment compensation exclusion tax refunds., changes in the tax code by Congress in the middle of the 2020 tax season and the like.
Millions of taxpayers have not yet received there federal tax refunds.

As of July 17, 2021, we had 15.6 million unprocessed individual returns. Unprocessed individual returns include tax year 2020 returns such as those requiring correction to the Recovery Rebate Credit amount or validation of 2019 income used to figure the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC). This work does not require us to correspond with taxpayers but does require special handling by an IRS employee so, in these instances, it is taking the IRS more than 21 days to issue any related refund and in some cases this work could take 90 to 120 days.
What you should do: In most instances, no further action is needed but you may check Where’s my refund or you can view your account. If you filed electronically and received an acknowledgement, you do not need to take any further action other than promptly responding to any requests for information. If you filed on paper, check Where’s my refund? If it tells you we have received your return or are processing or reviewing it, we are processing your return, but it may be under review. We’re working hard to get through the backlog. Please don’t file a second tax return or contact the IRS about the status of your return.
