Also, please see the Help Article here for more details on what to do if you receive a letter from the IRS.
As of today 3/16/22 it has been *54* days since it was accepted. Tried contacting the IRS multiple times but they are always under "heavy call volume". I did not claim child tax credit but did qualify for EIC. I've never had it take this long. I did receive my state refund about a week ago.
I'm in the exact same boat my friend. No luck here either yet
It’s taking longer especially with child credits I just got mine today and I filed and was a excepted Jan 24 just b patient
At this point it's like winning the lottery... I've been calling every day this week at 7 a.m. (as soon as the phone lines become open) and all throughout the day and even the very minute they open all I get is that the call volume is too high. It's been 5 weeks now since I E-Filed w/ direct deposit (supposedly this gets you your refund in 21 day). Meanwhile every day the money the IRS owes us is worth less due to inflation. If only we could make them pay interest and penalties when they are late with our money the same way they make us pay it when we are late. Although, at this point I mostly just want an answer about what's going on.... apparently that's too much to ask...
Unfortunately that's what it seems

I realize this is anecdotal, but I've found that for me it was best to call the IRS just before closing time--about 6:58 PM. I figured a lot of folks would not call that close to closing, and that if I was one of the last to get into the queue, they would finish off all the people who were in the queue at closing time. And luckily, my hunch worked for me. Still had to wait about 25 minutes. I used a speaker phone and worked on other things while waiting.
thanks, I'll give it a try... I have been calling throughout the day but I don't thinki I've tried any later than 6:30.... Here's hoping
Just be patient it’s just taking longer the backlog is bad you won’t be able to talk to anyone they are processing as fast as they can they just hired more ppl to get returns out faster once the still processing quote changes to we received your refund and we are processing it it will be about three days the status bar will return and u will have a deposit date just keep checking it will change
Mine was received feb 1st , will the status bar comf back when they start processing it or?
Yes it will come back once the notice changes to we received your refund and processing it when it says that it will be about two days or the third day status bar will show and the deposit date as well
I got a notice less than 24 hours after I filed that it was accepted.. ....just says processing and no bar. This is normal though right? I got an estimated fen 21 refund date from turbo tax and still says that even though it'd been 46 days now
It’s normal wen the still processing your refund and a refund date will be available as soon as possible message changes it will say we have received your refund and processing it message when you see that it will be two or three days then your status bar will appear and a deposit date
I hope you're right. There is other info out there in other forums that this change to the refund status comes when they have found some kind of issue and that issue has caused them to stop working on your return. Some suggest it could be weeks before they figure out the issue and start working on it again and others claim that when this has happened to them it was eventually followed up with letters and notices requesting proof of various things... I had a similar happening in 2019 and didn't get my refund until October that year... it also went from 4k to 80 dollars mostly because I couldn't provide "sufficient proof" that my 2 year old son lived with me and my spouse... anyways, I guess that doesn't really matter. Just bitter about it still and a little fearful of something like that happening again this year since there is no way to contact the IRS to find out what is going on and my family needs this tax return much more than it has needed previous ones.... GL to us all!
They are just making sure if something is wrong you will receive a letter by the 30 day period if info is needed but as long as the tax is correct it will happen just as I stated earlier I know your concern but just be positive okay it will be fine tax child credits are taking longer beyond 21 days or more I filed on the 24 of Jan I received my tax just yesturday I have no dependents my kids are if age now and working they file they own taxes now it’s just taking a while all those stimmy payments and stuff went out and they have to calculate especially with kids involved it will be fine hang in there if I get more info I will respond but it’s just taking longer on child credit refunds even more so
