Refund Not Complete

To whom it may concern,

I filed my refund and had the fees taken out from Turbo Tax. I used the deluxe version and never upgraded. I filed Married-Filing joint with my wife.

We got accepted for $4779.00 from federal.

Today I got a deposit from SBTPG LLC for $1857.00

The difference is way too large for any fees because they were already taken by Turbo Tax. I know for a fact that there is a mistake and I’m aware that this is happening to many people.

The IRS can’t help because it’s been past 21 days since I filed electronically. I would really appreciate some help as soon as possible because we have some important plans that would be ruined if we don’t receive the amount we earned and qualified for.

I appreciate any effort in helping us get this right.

James, the IRS is the only help.  TurboTax does not issue refunds or make adjustments to returns.  TurboTax is not notified when there are changes to your return because Privacy Laws prevents it.

IRS will issue a Explanation of Adjustment letter to you in the coming few weeks.  That will explain the changes and also provide contact information for you to contact them.

So far most of the adjustments have been for the Advanced Child Tax Credit or reporting the Stimulus payments incorrectly.  In any event, not worth guessing and still not fixing.  So just wait for the letter so that you can get this corrected.

Hey,

Thanks for responding. I have contacted the IRS already and they said that they can’t give any information or updates because its been more than 21 days. Waiting for over a week or even a week for a letter won’t help much at the moment.  I at least need to be able to talk to someone who can help. May you please provide me with a number where I can speak to someone. This is common right now so hopefully there are ways to help your customers get it figured out as soon as possible.

I am not sure what your TurboTax fees were but if they were $122, then it is very possible that your line 30 on your 1040 shows $2,800.  If this is the case, then you entered $0 for the amount you already received last year for the Recovery Rebate and the IRS adjusted it because you had already received the $2,800.

If you do not remember getting it, you can go back through your bank statements to see when you got it.

You can also try calling the IRS at 800-829-1040, however, the hold times are very long and many people are saying they are being disconnected
