TurboTax calculates the amount of your refund, or additional taxes owed based on the information that you entered into the program. When the IRS and/or your state receives the returns, the compare what is on the return to what they have in their system for you. When they make adjustments to your return it is to account for the difference in what was reported on the return and what they are showing in their system. You can call the IRS and speak to a tax representative about what was changed on the return and why.
How do I contact the Internal Revenue Service (IRS)? https://ttlc.intuit.com/replies/3301592
Ok. I will contact to IRS but there is no measures change between previous and this year so I am not sure why i see this big difference between last year and this year.
Anyway Thanks for the responses. !!
I would check over your return and see if you can see anything wrong especially in the payments section. Make sure you agree with all the amounts listed. Like is the difference the same or close to the refund you got last year? Maybe you put down that you applied last year's refund to this year? Or you put down you made a payment with an extension or paid an estimated payment that you didn't make?
If the IRS adjusted your refund they will be mailing you a letter explaining why the changed it.
Usually I import my W2 form and other stuff so i don’t think there would be an issue with eating.
i am still waiting for the notice IRS mailed it on April 6 . I should get it by tomorrow or early next week.
When you import your W2 or 1099 you need to check it close to be sure it is right. It can import wrong.
I checked W2 and looks okay. Also I still waiting for IRS notice. I tried to call them but no one taking call . Not sure how to proceed on this one?
