My 2020 federal return was rejected and I received the following error message:
/Retrun/ReturnData?IRS1040ScheduleC/ReturnsAndAllowancesAmt - Data in the return is missing or invalid
I DON'T UNDERSTAND ... WHAT DOES THIS MESSAGE MEAN?

The return I am working on has been rejected 2 times. Can someone tell me how to fix it so it is accepted?
The return was rejected. I want to know how to correct the problems and get it submitted correctly
Would you please clarify your question? What error code are you receiving?
Also, you will receive an email from us with the rejection code and instructions on how to fix your rejected tax return. Please see this TurboTax FAQ for more information: How do I fix a rejected return?
@arhuckla
The problem is - THERE IS NO CODE!
I only get the following message from the Intuit email:
/Return/ ReturnData /IRS1040ScheduleC/ ReturnsAndAllowancesAmt - Data in the return is missing or invalid. Please double check your entries.
I've looked over my 2020 1040 schedule C and compared it to 2019 and I can find no incorrect entries. It would be helpful if there was some code to point to the problem, but the above message is all I have to go by.
What should I be looking at / for?

Based on the information you shared about your rejected return, you should take a look at your Schedule C Line 2 Returns and Allowances.
This would have been entered as part of the Income section of your Schedule C, under the part for Income You Gave Back or Rebates and Refunds. Information entered in this section requires a description and an amount entered as a positive number.
