I am a few days away from commiting suicide over the IRS and SSA. I lost ALL of my income after my Dr couldn't get into his office to sign important paperwork after Covid..I have lived on $100 a month!! From 3k to $100. I was so relieved to think I could file my taxes to get what everyone ELSE gets. I worked hard all my life. Now disabled, they are so screwed up, they keep telling me my stimulus was sent to my bank..(closed 2 YEARS AGO!!!) I never dreamed in my life I would be reduced to nothing...I can't even make my own bread because I can't afford flour. yes, I have had it..
I am sorry for all your are going through. If your payment can’t be delivered to you for any reason, it should be returned to the IRS. This often happens when a payment gets sent to the wrong bank account. Once your bank sends back the payment, you will be able to get your payment reissued.
To get your payment reissued, the IRS gives the following guidance:
Please reach out to us if you have any further problems receiving your stimulus.
Did you ever find out anything? Because the same **bleep** happened to me
Yeah I found out about all I need to know the first stimulus check bacon take for garnishment child support tax debt and such the second check was protected under a bill that passed so you got it and if you didn't get either impound for the rebate credit I in the tax form it change from stimulus 2 rebate credit which I thought was the same thing but you then it is split and have a Nifty little answer that the stimulus is in advance in the credit is whatever I guess they wanted to be or whatever you live for is theirs they snatch it up and they know what's going on in there working that and nothing probably will ever be done on anybody's behalf it's like having a big bag of cocaine and writing sugar on it so now it's not cocaine at all tell that to the judge see how that works quite a predicament
I received the same message, but I'm confused about is, how or why they would decrease my refund amount (which is only my recovery rebate credit) from $600 to $0 when the math error was approximately $50-75!
The IRS will send you an explanation letter on what the adjustment was for and how it impacted your tax return.
I have the same exact code. They told me that it was because I put standard deduction, and had no income.. I had to pick one I just don't understand! This is so unfair, I have not received one stimulus credit since this all happened last year. The irs rep, I dont think had a clue in what she's talking about.
You're correct, There has been some difficulty in understanding and accessing IRS tools and information regarding the stimulus payments. Please review the new FAQs in the article, How will the third stimulus impact me?
Here is a TurboTax article about the American Rescue Plan.
Here is a link to the TurboTax portal to enter direct deposit info for stimulus check.

What’s do it’s mean
Please see the answer above from Critter:
9021– Reference Code for all math error conditions.
Note that a "math error" can occur if you make a data entry mistake, or forget to claim some income, and thus the refund amount is incorrectly calculated. The IRS will be sending you a letter. They do not notify TT.
I am wondering how the online application allowed me to enter the incorrect info...
"Great news! You qualify for the Recovery Rebate Credit." " Your Credit - $1200."
So I moved on and filed the return for $1498 refund.
Now I find out that I should have not gotten the $1200 credit after all and will get $298 instead.
I know I answered all the questions correctly and put the right numbers in the right boxes.
My 1040 shows $1200 on line 32. But this is not correct per the IRS. I should not have been getting this credit.
That makes sense but the program should have caught this IMHO.
I am extremely disappointed in TT ... been using them for years.
Next year I may be looking for other options.
Precisely. The same thing happened to me. Because the TurboTax card was revoked for a majority of users, a paper check was sent out (which I did receive) however at this point I had already submitted my taxes claiming the Recovery Rebate Credit.
I just received a notice regarding that they corrected the mishap and this was the category that it fell under.
Just got my refund of 298... Not 1498 as the software led me to believe and actually filed.
TurboTax let me down. I will be deleting my account and using something else moving forward.
Shame on you TT
That sounds like a possible stimulus check mix up. Some people were confused by the recovery rebate credit and entered incorrect amounts which made their refunds look bigger.
Did you enter ALL of the stimulus money that you had already received correctly in the recovery rebate credit section when you prepared your 2020 return? The IRS cross checks and if you did not enter all of the money you received, they recalculate your refund.
MY REFUND WAS LESS THAN I EXPECTED
There can be a number of reasons why your refund was less than the amount you expected. First of all, look carefully at your actual tax returns. There is sometimes confusion about the amount of refund to expect when users misinterpret the “summary” they saw in TurboTax. The amount of your refund is on your tax return. Federal refund is on line 34 on Form 1040 State tax forms are all different so we cannot tell you what line to look at on your state form. BUT it is important to actually LOOK at your tax return forms yourself and see the amounts of your tax refunds and/or tax due. A lot of confusion would be avoided by doing that.
TurboTax does not receive feedback from the IRS regarding money that was offset from your refund. If you owed back taxes, child support, student loan debt, etc. you will receive a letter of explanation from the IRS in several weeks. The WMR site will contain a message regarding your offset. It is also possible that the IRS caught a mistake you made and reduced your refund.
A possible reason for the reduction could be that the recovery rebate credit was completed incorrectly and you may have entered the amount of stimulus already received wrong, which could have reduced the refund you thought you were seeing.
It is also possible that your state reduced your refund for debts owed in your state—if the state reduced your state refund you will receive a letter from the state.

Be aware also that your Federal refund and state refund do NOT come together. Federal and state tax returns are processed by two completely separate entities. There is no rule as to which one will come first,
Did you choose to have TT fees deducted from your Federal refund? (Remember that if you did that, you also agreed to an extra refund processing fee of $39.99)

When you finally got your refunds after it was reduced, did it still come by direct deposit. Or did they mail you a check?
