I received a 4883C letter in the mail. I mailed my 1040 tax return a month ago. I have been a victim of ID theft in the past. What questions does the IRS asked when Call the phone #? Because I worried if someone stole my identity and filed a 1040 already before I mailed mine. When the IRS asks to confirm my identity and if I filed a return and I say yes? How do I know if I am confirming my 1040 and not a fraudulent 1040 already filed by someone else? What questions does the IRS exactly ask?

Do you happen to know exactly what questions their going to asked because I don't know if I am confirming my 1040 and not a fraudulent 1040 already filed by someone else?
They will confirm amounts from the forms they tell you to have on hand ... it is an open book test and there is nothing you cannot answer if you have the forms listed on hand ... they want the return YOU filed ... how could you possibly know what someone else filed ?
