You do not do anything.
The settlement agreement covers users who used TurboTax in 2016, 2017 or 2018. If you are one of the affected users you will receive about $30 for each of those years in which your income was $34,000 or less and in which you started in the Free Edition and were upgraded to a paid version of the software.
"Covered Consumer" means any individual, or individuals if a joint return was filed, who in Tax Years 2016, 2017, or 2018 was (1) eligible to use an Intuit IRS Free File Product; (2) began his or her tax returns using a TurboTax Free Edition Product; (3) was informed that he or she was ineligible to use a TurboTax Free Edition Product; (4) subsequently paid to use a TurboTax Paid Product, and (5) had not used the Intuit IRS Free File Product in a previous tax year.
You do not have to “sign up” or get on a list. The payments will be sent out automatically to the affected users. We do not know yet how soon the payments will be sent.
Any updates???? My 12 weeks was December 15 so I am calling this week to see if they sent it out. Praying I get a date of January 12th.
Still waiting..... IRS hasn't received mine yet.. Jan 7th will make it 90 days since they sent it back so they should have it any time for me...
Try calling IRS again, they should have it by now since I went back to check your comments and the 22nd made it 90 days that yours was sent back to the IRS, they should have an update by now that the money was received.
I still do not have my refund. According to SBTPG, it was sent back to the IRS mid-September. Today was the first day I got through to a live person at the IRS. She told me their computers were down so she couldn't look up my account to answer my questions! I have to call back January 2 and try again.
Thousands of dollars. My money. Waiting. Since February 24.
I am in the exact same boat. They told me call back in the 4th.
ive been waiting since feb 24. TPG sent it back to IRS 9/22, the IRS updated my transcript for refund to be paid back out with a date of 1/3...check your transcript and see if there is any update.
Has anyone else’s info not show up on SBTG anymore when u check it?
Says account information not found..
Are you referring to your account at SBTPG? If so, please reach out to Santa Barbara Tax Products Group directly at 1-877-908-7228.
Are you able to see your information yet @? both TPG and IRS site say info not found for me still...
Please see this website for contact information: TPG. There is also a blue "Submit a request" button where you can provide your information and describe the issue.
You may also want to see Why is there no record of my return at Where's My Refund (WMR)? for reasons why you may be unable to track the status of your refund on the IRS website.
My status is no longer on TPG. That was gone since they stated they sent my refund back to the IRS mid-September. And my status on the IRS page has not been updated (still shows Feb. 24th). Still can't reach a live person at IRS. Just don't know. Still. This entire process has been frustrating.
Nobody is helping.
The answers from the experts on this page do not actually answer our questions. Directing us to the same places we've explained do not have our information only adds to the frustration.
Sorry you and others are also still waiting and wondering after all this time.
Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don’t enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.
Then press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
Then press 4 for all other inquiries.
It should then transfer you to an agent.
Or you can contact your local IRS office. See this IRS website for local IRS offices - http://www.irs.gov/uac/Contact-Your-Local-IRS-Office-1 or call 1-844-545-5640 to set up an appointment
Or you may want to contact a Taxpayer Advocate in your area. See this IRS website for Taxpayer Advocate in your area and a toll free number - http://www.irs.gov/Advocate/Local-Taxpayer-Advocate
Thanks for that, @Critter-3.
The only change was the last step. I had to press 3, not 4, for all other inquiries.
But I finally got a live person.
And... The IRS has no record of my refund having been returned to them! Now they will start a refund trace, which should confirm my refund was not cashed by me. It will also tell if it went through with SBTPG. It can take up to 120 days. Once completed, the IRS can issue a new refund.
Geez. I continue to wait and hope. But feeling better IRS is doing this.
