How long after the bank rejects my refund will it take the IRS to issue me a paper check

It took us about 7 weeks before we received the papercheck.

The IRS will know since the bank returns the rejected tax refund back to the IRS.

There is no set timeframe.  It could take as little as 10 days or up to 8 weeks.

They will know when the bank rejects the deposit.  From first hand experience it doesn't help to call them.

did you ever get your check or did the wmr app ever update for you ? im on the same boat its been 5 weeks since my bank sent it back to the irs and still nothing.

I did get it.   I believe it took 6 weeks and the check just showed up.   The website tracking didn’t update.

Hey my name is John & I'm having the same problem with my stimulus check my bank Gotten shut down March so it's gotten returned to the IRS i haven't gotten any updates or anything it still says it in my bank account on get my payment website but it's been months & I still haven't seen it or anything Everytime I call IRS they tell me to do a payment trace but that's only if you knew for sure it was coming but never got it....it's in the IRS hands idk wat to do please help

My problem was with my tax refund and not my stimulus check.  I have a couple of suggestions.  Make sure you are eligible (was your income too high?) and the amount you are looking for.  Call your bank and ask them to confirm the stimulus check was received, why they rejected it, and the date they returned to the IRS.  Once you have that information, call the IRS (see if you can get a telephone number specific to the "stimulus" check.  Call and tell them what you found out at your bank and ask again what you need to do.  I can tell you it took about 3 months for my tax refund to arrive by mail once my bank rejected it.  Good luck.

They sent it to my bank account march 15 I think but it gotten sent back around march 18-20th 

I haven't got any updates on my get my payment it says I'm eligible for the payment but my date hasent shown yet but its still saying my closed  bank info up there I talked to my bank they confirmed that my deposit was rejected & has gotten sent back to irs they even gave me a tracking number for the irs but when I called its they wouldnt accept my tracking number from my bank which really had me upset then gonna ask me do i want to do a payment trace i said no why would i do that when I know that irs has it in their possession someone please help

@Chancej32 Your bank sent the refund back to the IRS and you have talked to the IRS.   You say the IRS suggested that you put a trace on the check.  But you are resisting that.  Why?   This happened in March and it is now nearly September.   What do you think you have to lose by requesting a trace?

I didnt do the payment trace because if my bank rejects the payment it automatically suppose to send a check to my address not a payment trace expecially if it hasent been lost or stolen or been cashed/spent its even if I do the payment trace it would be a waste of time when its already there they can look in the system to see that
