@jenagudelo23 If you already e-filed or mailed your return you have to wait for it to be fully processed and then you can amend to add in the information you forgot to enter when you prepared the return. Do not amend until your return has been processed.
And.....if you are someone else's dependent you cannot get education credits--the person who claimed you can get the education credits on their return.

A 1040X cannot be e-filed. It must be printed and mailed. It will take about 4 months for the IRS to process an amended return. It is a good idea to use a mailing service that will track it, like UPS or certified mail, so you will know it was received.
