For returns from 2009-2013 that I filed with TurboTax, saved files in my documents will not open with Word and are only a bunch of symbols. How may I open old files?

Do you have the pdf files or the .taxyyyy files?  You should be able to open a pdf file with any pdf reader like Adobe.  

If you didn't save the pdf files and have the data files ending in .tax2008, .tax2022, etc. you need the same year program installed to open it. If you can't install the programs you could try the TaxPrinter service to convert a .tax file to pdf at

They might be expensive and it is probably not safe to email tax returns back and forth. They are not related to Turbo Tax.
