Federal efiled but Turbotax says I didn't (PC version)

I efiled my Federal taxes and received an email that my taxes were accepted. 

I resaved that (filed) tax file with a different name so that I could manipulate my tax scenario and see the effect of removing capital gains for next year.  I now have two tax files to chose from in the starting page, the original filed version and the manipulated version. 

I went back in to file my state taxes with the original file and Turbotax won't recognise that I already filed my Federal taxes.  The second file, completely changed, said I did efile my Federal.   I couldn't file the state taxes with that changed tax file. I closed and restarted the program without saving and now neither tax file says I filed.

My problem:  Turbotax won't let me file my state return since it thinks I didn't file my Federal.
